I can pretty much guarentee PS3 wont outsell 360 in the USA the next few months so, next theory?
Even NPD stated they expect slim to raise PS3 sales 40-60%, which would still leave them slightly behind 360. Not factoring in the yet to be released MS holiday game bundles, ODST, or the impact of 249 clearance pro's while they last.
Going forward I think PS3 has shot it's software wad, after Killzone 2 there's not been a title with as much hype. GT5, GoW3, and UC2 (which most mainstream dont care about UC2) are all they have left. KZ2 was definitely the zenith of PS3 software hype and it seems all downhill from there.
