Or Brawl?

Or Halo 3?

What if they blamed the 6 axis, and specifically Sony, for ruining the game? Or what if they blamed RRoD for ruining the game?

A lot has been said about the Wii game The Conduit, and the terrible Gamepro review.

Some people were really looking forward to it. Like you look forward to your next big Playstation 3 game. Like you looked forward to Uncharted 2.

What if you opened up your magazine and read this:

I'm not sure who I should blame for The Conduit's shortcomings. Do I blame the developer for making a rather generic shooter with a convoluted storyline that isn't as epic or mysterious as it wants to be or do I blame Nintendo for creating a console whose lack of hardware power essentially handcuffs every developer who tries to create a "next-gen" game for it?

That is the opening line of the review.

What if it said:

I'm not sure who I should blame for Uncharted 2's shortcomings. Do I blame the developer for making a rather generic shooter with a convoluted storyline that isn't as epic or mysterious as it wants to be or do I blame Sony for creating a console whose lack of motion controls essentially handcuffs every developer who tries to create a "next-gen" game for it?

Isn't that an opinion piece about the company, who makes the console that the game is on, and not about the game itself? Isn't that a hit piece.

How would you feel if someone treated a game you loved this way, and acted as if it was a valid professional review?

Would you agree with them, that they were being professional, or were they being ignorant and childish. Wouldn't you feel betrayed? Wouldn't you feel like that person should lose their job?

Then he wrote this:

The funny thing is, after wrestling with the terrible controls for the five hours, thirteen minutes and eleven seconds it took me to beat the game (before you set the Internet aflame over how "short" the game is, I took the most direct route to the end and didn't look for all the secret rooms and discs scattered around -- most of you will probably take a little bit longer), I was actually glad the game had ended. I will admit that the weapon aiming, a crucial aspect of FPS games that I've never really enjoyed on the Wii or any console game for that matter (I'm a diehard keyboard and mouse fan), is actually handled really well in The Conduit. I'd go so far as to say it's the best I've seen in a Wii title. Turning your viewpoint is smooth and there are menu options that let you customize pretty much every aspect of the interface that you could want. I played with the default and was absolutely happy with it.

Most Wii fans don't mind the non-HD graphics and the best controls on the Wii. These are not negative or derogatory things. In fact, the entire review of the game was a flame. He only played it for 5 hours, and did NOT play the multiplayer at ALL.

That is the person who wrote this review, and Gamepro is the magazine who published it. They should be ashamed. Don't read them, if you believe in gaming. You have the power, you are the consumer, you can simply stop listening to them. You have the power to stop their voice. Use it.

At least ask yourself this. Is Gamepro a review source I can trust for games that I might purchase in the future? Just because they hate the Wii now, doesn't mean they wont' hate the PS4 or the 720 in the future, if they don't like the console design, or the technical specs. They will flame and degrade games on the console because they don't like the hardware it is running on.

While the game does not turn the genre upside-down, it is innovative in certain areas -- for example, it features the most customizable, precise and enjoyable controls of any console shooter created, hands down.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
