At first I was just as mad as twesterm about FFVII, but I can see a reason to put it on a list of innovative games.

Beyond just being "... IN 3D!", it truly made use of the CD format, with cutscenes out the ass, etc. You may not like the direction it took JRPGs, but it did innovate the genre. The reasons they actually listed were retarded though, as twesterm said.

Not to say there aren't 20 or more games more innovative though. This list is complete trash. Needs SMB and/or SMB3, at least one Zelda (OOTP), at least one Metroid, probably a bunch of NES games, some 2600 games, some SNES/Genesis games (maybe Star Fox? and definitely Chrono Trigger), etc. etc.

For the people saying "thank god Nintendo isn't all over this list", that's a sure sign it's bullshit. Nintendo is one of the world's greatest developers, who get to make their OWN HARDWARE to exploit that talent (the N64 controller, according to rumor, was practically designed specifically for SM64), and who have been around for practically as long as the industry. Its games are going to get a lot of space in "greatest" lists. That's reality. Face it.
