I suppose popular media will see Nintendo as the more impressive at TGS just as they saw them as the more impressive at E3 whether deserving it or not. It seems the Wii and DS can do no wrong in the Media's eyes and people outside of the gaming culture in particular just want to love Nintnedo so much right now. I can't even tell you how many David Vs. Goliath P.R. stories I've seen in Newspapers and on the TV praising the Wii.
As for TGS, there is no arguing Sony had the biggest guns, but with favor seemingly fading away from their camp all the more in the gaming world its really getting hard for some analysts to look at anything the PS3 or PSP does now as being anything more than a hollow gesture. Not to bash Sony but its more than clear that they're struggling as a company, Blu-Ray is not the unstopable dominant force everyone had thought it would be and the PS3 and PSP are both suffering in their respective markets. And after LAIR and Heavenly Sword I think its more now than ever getting harder and harder for gamers and the industry to keep buying into the same hype that Sony is dishing out at this press events.
I don't think Nintendo stole the show at TGS, but then again I'm not popular media.
