Recent numbers put US home console penetration at about 41%. Almost all of those with a PS2, since a huge amount of XBox and GC owners were multi-console owners.
However, US home console penetration was brought above 30% by the NES. So the growth since then is shockingly small. Almost all of the market growth of the PS-era is due to growth into Europe, plus ever-growing rates of multi-console ownership.
