FPS are popular and sell very well.
Of course many developer aren't going to take the risk of developing a game with groundbreaking new concepts, because they know it has a much higher chance to fail.
And no I'm definitely not annoyed by this. Bring on CoD Modern Warfare 2, Killzone 2 and Halo 3 ODST !!!!! :)
