The thing is you know when a series is massive, because it is hardly hyped by the devs or Publisher at all. Merely the announcement of a sequel to a killer original is enough to get the fans hyping all on their own. This was not the case with KZ2. I remember when KZ2 got announced. There was hardly any noise from fans, it was all Devs and Publishers going look how good it looks etc etc. Think back to the Halo 3 announcement. Before Bungie or M$ had a chance to hype it the Halo community had already pretty much figured the story out. It was hyped all on it's own. Thats the difference. I feel many fanboys are hurting themselves, because when the sales dont get anywhere near games like Halo 3, Gears Of War 2, Mario Kart and the like they will wonder why. It will probably be a good game, but pinning so much hope on a sequel from the same devs that made a poor original that got 70 on metacritic is unheard of. But I am slightly worried that they have put all their effort into graphics and not gameplay.

people who were in the beta loved the gameplay and it seems so does many reviewers( http://n4g.com/PS3/games/g-24194/tt/metareviews.aspx ),,,Sometimes you just have to accept that you were wrong that the game will flop critically just like KZ1 in most of your KZ2 posts
