I realize that there is a thread about this in the gaming section, but this issue deserves its own topic in the proper section.

In most forums, the job of the moderator is to keep discussion orderly, to enforce the rules, and to set a good example for other posters. Apparently, that standard is too high a bar for VGchartz. Rather, it seems that a few of the mods are mods solely for the purpose that they post a lot, and do occasionally make legitimate contributions. This is not the case for all the mods, but it is true for several mods.

In the aforementioned thread, ckmlb comes in, throws in a sarcastic statement that will create "discussion," to term it lightly, and then leaves the thread immediately after. The thread turns into a flame war on his behalf. This does create a lot of discussion, albeit completely off topic, non-productive, and the cause of a lot of heart burn. So how is this situation handled? Is the thread locked (since it is completely off topic and in the wrong section)? Does someone try and soothe the flame war? Well, not really.

DKs response - Shams is just as bad. Wow, wow, wow. So the answer to a mod causing a flame war is... so do other mods? Are you serious? Well thats nice, more fuel for the fire! So going along this wonderful route, there is more "discussion". Finally, to top it off, this wonderful nugget of advice -

"Has anyone been warned or banned by ckmlb? I got the impression he was avoiding doing any actual mod'ing just to avoid these kind of discussions. Anyway, let's bring this back on topic. If you have a problem with a mod, PM/e-mail ioi about it. And then he can laugh at you and delete it and tell you to suck it up. ;)"

So a forum that complains about the bias of NeoGAF revels in the self aggrandizing and biased behavior that has been the main complaint against NeoGAF. Something seems wrong about this, which is why I am complaining. Hopefully something good will come of this, but apparently I should expect to be laughed at and told to suck it up.
