- Console sales are majority based on momentum for a variety of reasons.
PRICECUT+KZ2+FFXIII+GT5 = MOMENTUM.
No.  The other consoles already have momentum.  The reasons why the Japanese market in particular cannot support the PS3 in addition to other consoles have already been covered in this thread.  In any case, Sony cannot afford to take the PS3 to $299 anytime in 2009.  Even if they could, Xbox 360 purchasers have shown us that $199, not $299 is the golden pricepoint.  Why would people hold off for two years (at least) to get a PS3 with the same gaming capabilities and same games as an Xbox 360 cheap now?  And in two years, why would they buy a $199 PS3 with the same games as an Xbox 360 at $99?
- Prominent reasons include games being produced for consoles with large userbases. The PS3 having the smallest userbase ironically means it's userbase is the least likely to grow.
PS3 STILL COST 400$, that is ABOVE PS2 launch price. THat is MOST expensive console on the market. A year ago people like you were saying the PS3 would sell regardless of that pricepoint.  As I already explained, the PS3 will always have a price disadvantage.
- The other most prominent reason is the "what my friend's have got" phenomenon, seen at play with the Wii, and with Xbox live on the Xbox 360.
Yeah, 25 mln. x360 owners will make big difference Er, it does.  It already has.,
while Wii and PS3 can co-exist. Since PS3 is a HD console, while Wii is SD, but with motion controls. The same is true of the Xbox 360, which has already taken more market share than the PS3, and there is no reason this will reverse.  The PS3's relative failure and media exposure as a failure have already brought about the fall of Playstation as a powerful brand.
- Then there is the fact that (assuming the Wii sorts its supply issues) the PS3 will ALWAYS be more expensive than the other consoles.
AFTER reaching 299$, especially 199$, it won`t matter anymore.
SEE PS2 - xbox - GC PRICE WAR. GC costed less then PS2, it still sold less. Thats because the PS2 had exclusive third party support.  The PS3 has none left.
PS3 is still getting BIG 3rd party support. =) It is getting NO exclusive third party support from here on out.  Why pay $200 more for the same game that can be had on the Xbox 360 (normally at a better resolution and framerate)?

YOU FAIL.

There you go, I took the bait.  Now that it's been established you have no reasonable, fact-based groundwork or applicable logic, can you ask a mod to lock this thread?
