PC upgrade is definatley the best bet. There is nothing like a high end PC. Then again getting a ps3 is a good choice as well you know. Its really all about what you think you need the most.

Isn`t that every 2 years? A high end PC 2 years ago is outdated today...and what`s the point upgrading your PC when you can buy a cheap 360 and play all of it`s exclusives AND all the PC games on your big TV at a steady framerate all the time.

I say invest in 360 software (and a big TV),it`s cheaper and more fun.

You can put together a great gaming PC for less than $500 and you wouldn't have to upgrade it until the next console generation. You also get free online play, cheaper games, exclusive content and mod support as well as a far greater body of exclusive games than the 360 or any other console could ever offer. The PC is the option that is no more expensive and yet it offers so much more.

A lot depends on what he has in his current PC (and what monitor he's using). It could be a $1000 expense or merely a $200-300 upgrade if his mobo, HDD, etc. are still current.

What PC games are slated for the next 12 months? I haven't been paying attention.

For 2009 I'm looking forward to:

Battle Forge
Borderlands
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor
Dawn of War II
Empire: Total War
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising
Prototype
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction
