VII is also the only NUMBERED Final Fantasy to have its own movie.
It even has its own official Anime film.
And its quite obvious its fanbase is largest among the rest...
Then again you guys are entitled to your opinions, although the clarity of it all is that VII is infact the Final Fantasy game that put Square were they are today.
So in my personal Opinion... Final Fantasy VII > Everyother...
Of course.... Untill Versus XIII comes out...

You are right in that it put Square where they are now.
It put them on the path to bankruptcy so that they were forced to merge with Enix in order to stave of certain disaster.

Wrong! It was the first Final Fantasy movie that screwed Square over, do your history man.
VII made famous, there movie first movie, i forget what it was called made them go down hill, jeez.

Not really, the movie was just one of the symptoms of the illness that the success of FFVII brought over Square.
They thought they could do no wrong and became more and more megalomanical resulting in their retail disaster, higher and higher budgets for games that performed worse and worse, their online disaster that went nowhere etcetera.
In the end the movie was just a blip on the radar to their doom and that had been set in motion because of the succes of FFVII.
