I personnaly think they - the retailers - have overestimated the consumer's demand. Even if the sales are to double across the week, and then to maintain the same level the following weeks, that still would make 2 weeks and a half worth of stock. That's a lot, especially when you consider that you usually only need 2 days to get a new shipment in Japan. And it is not in the retailer's interest to have too much stocks (waste of shelf and warehouse's space - and so money).
In my opinion, they wouldn't have had any problem with only half this shipment.
Well, anyway, this is just details. This is the 2nd or 3rd best start on the Wii, there's no doubt it is a success.
