A lot of people seem to ignore the obvious, if you hang around on audio/video sites you'd know that a LOT of people buy the PS3 just for the Blu-ray capabilites. It may not be the cheapest Blu-ray player anymore but it's still one of the best and it plays games as a bonus.

For a non-gamer a/v enthusiast you think "well, the PS3 is still one of the cheapest players, seems to have the least amount of problems with discs, it's easily upgradable to different profiles and maybe I'll even get a game or two for it". So the PS3 might be selling hardware units (and I don't think it's a coincidence that the PS3 sales spike earlier this year came after HD-DVD died) but not everyone who buys one is buying it to play games. That's why, in my opinion, PS3 has lower software numbers than the Xbox 360 despite having a lot of units sold.

I'm a perfect example, I bought my PS3 last March and I only own 2 games for it, all my gaming is on the 360. My PS3 is pretty much just used for Blu-ray.

Yeah that... I got mine in April and I only own 1 game.  The rest of the time I play Blu-ray movies.  So I too fall into this catagory.
