DreamsCast said: Unfortunately, with the exception of GT and Final Fantasy, Sony doesn't really have any franchises, in Japan at least, capable of single-handedly selling the console.
I would like to say your are being overly critical. Sony's strength has never been on one game alone and that has been the point. Ratings wise and sales wise Sony has had the most exclusive hits on thier PS1 and PS2 consoles. I expect the same this time around. To gauge the success of a system trying to use on game is pretty silly. If you want to get picky on points, Zelda's Twilight princess has recieved less attention and sales than the previous zelda's. Here is a fact, and it might be a sticking point in this future of these consoles, in addition to the sequels and reimagined games that came from the PS1 and went over to the PS2, The PS2 also had a large selection of successful exclusive games that were new to the system. Now with that in mind if the PS3 continues that trend there is no question that it is going to be just fine in the market. It is way to early to be calling out the death of the system especially when there are no real facts to stand behind on the future of the system. Either for or against it is still speculation but based off of the past it is more likely to believe that the PS3 will deliver on games than it is to outright fail. http://www.vgcharts.org/japtotals.php?name=&maker=&console=PS2 http://www.vgcharts.org/usatotals.php?name=&maker=&console=PS2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_selling_computer_games#Sony_PlayStation_2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_selling_computer_games#Sony_PlayStation besides I see more than a select "FEW" titles that helped the PS2 become a success.
