"If you can't do it.... doesn't that make it harder then the job you do?"

No, because the job I worked at required me to stand under a chute and get hit by fifty pound boxes racing down it while being in a perpetually wet basement which could have been a breeding ground for staph, AIDS, and other infectious diseases that I was supposed to clean each and every day with bleach even though I've had astham since an early age before being allowed to go home all within a building that possibly had asbestos in its walls. Also being responsible for memorizing upwards of four hundred items with the possibility of being fired if I forgot something. Also, I have a hole in my side from where a forty pound box of french fries hit me in the side coming down a belt at about forty miles an hour, and my feet swell when I stand on concrete too long. So, I really don't think that I should have had to endure all that hell for only $8.00 an hour when many other people are working in much more comfortable positions for many times what I was making.

Actually, other than the fact that I don't get hot chicks (which I wasn't getting with an $8.00 and hour salary to be honest anyway), I much more prefer what I'm doing now. Blogging each day on the internet and living off the generosity of others.

This is bordering on absurdity. If you can't do a job, it's hard - for you.

You have this unfounded hatred for successful people. I'm sorry to hear your dad is an asshole but stop trying to penalize those who have worked hard and enforce some half-assed version of Communism because of it.

I'm sorry but there are few posters that sound as narrow-minded and selfish as you. People have shitty things happen to them every day. Stop thinking that because you were screwed out of your birthright by a selfish prick that somehow the world owes you something.

You don't like your job? Go to fucking school. There are loads of grants, scholorships and loans available to anyone if they look for them hard enough. I have no tolerance for those who sit and complain instead of do. I busted my ass from the age of five drawing, designing, and painting so that I would never have to work in a fucking field, doing shit work like my grandfather did. I worked even harder so that I would never have to be a traveling salesman like my father. Now I have a dedicated skillset that allows me to pursue work I enjoy.

I agree with you Rocket.

If you don't like your job, DO SOMETHING ELSE. Remember, we are talking about America - the land of opportunity here.

I was in a similar situation only a few months ago - I was working for a medical transportation company, and it was brutal. $8.00 an hour, working 12-16hrs a day (total of 60hrs per week + travel time to job which was another 5-6hrs a week), and in unsafe conditions, transporting wheelchair-bound patients to appointments - getting myself into areas that were unsanitary, and unsafe.

Guess what? That job was my choice. I decided to do something for easy money, because the bar was set so low, as long as I could drive and didn't take drugs, I could get the job. The job sucked. I worked a whole year at the job.

How'd my situation change? I decided to do something else. I worked hard on my XBLA charts and now have a great job for a video game company because of it. Because I decided that I wasn't going to live inside of my current situation. If you want a better job, get one. If you can't get a better job, then there's something seriously wrong. I know plenty of people that start at meanial jobs making nothing, and elevate themselves to very good jobs through intelligent decision making.

ProTip: Get an Associates Degree in Nursing, and become an RN. If you live in the US right now, you can get your education near-free, and once you graduate, you WILL earn well over $20/hr, if not $30 or $40 an hour + $10,000 relocation costs if you have more than 1yr in the field (and you will have a decent bit of this whole getting trained for your RN).
The US is in dire need of that field, and they are willing to pay insane amounts of money for getting trained nurses.

Now, Paul, go do that. Get a few scholarships, or tuition assistance programs going for an RN, and in 2 years, your going to be making $60,000+ a year. You can do it at night school while working at the crappy job you have now.

And Rocketpig - Bravo. You, my friend have obtained the whole idea behind Libretarianism and the American dream. You did the right thing(s) to find a job in a field you like, by dedicating yourself to a specific skillset that you enjoyed, and are now reaping the benefits from it - Not what the government mandated, or the schools told you to do, but you did it out of self-motiviation and a desire to better yourself, because of those around you.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
