If I remember my history correctly, and check me if I'm wrong. But I believe traditional bombings of Tokyo and other industrial cities killed MANY more than the 2 nukes dropped on rural cities.
Also, I think everyone should see the movie "Grave of Fireflies." It really shows the crappy situation the Japanese citizens were in between the Japanese government's insistence on fighting and the overwhelming bombing raids from the Americancs.
