"http://www.kako.com/neta/2006-018/2006-018.html From the photo in a Japan newspaper found 2 motion sensors in Sixaxis. Which resenble the HAAM-325Bby HDK http://www.hdk.co.jp/ and ENC-03R http://www.murata.co.jp/ So like I guessed Sixaxis has 2 sensors in one controller. HAAM series by HDK is a 3 axis sensor with gravity detection, i.e. 3 axis MEMS sensor like what Wii has in it's remote and nunchke. But Sixaxis also have a ENC-03R by Murata which is a jaro sensor or commonly known as encoder. This thing detecs angular velocity, and accurate ralative angular position. SO how does this 2 sensors give 6 axis, that really on the art of how they were mounted. Wii faked to give tilt acceleration, if fact it's a combine result of acceleration in one direction and mix that with gravity sensing. Wii does this by mounting it's 3 axis sensor on the top end of the remote. SCE is not stupid too, so they mount their 3 axis sensor on the right hand side of the controler. Like Wii by combining accleration result and gravity position, it cheat to have tilt detection. For a real angular accleration and position you need 3 encoders, but Sixaxis only have 1 (Wii have none). This is why Wii can't do horizontal rotation, and all it's tilting is very inaccurate. On the other hand Sixaxis have a encoder mounted on a small board in the center of the controller. Which complete the horizontal rotational movement that Wii don't have, also since it's a real encoder, not a cheat tilting it is accurate in position, so it's opssible to use it as driving wheel." http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=62921 http://www.kako.com/neta/2006-018/2006-018.html I wanted to include this fellows specualtion because I have heard this before. I think on this forum. While I have guessed that they used two sensors I never knew about the Wii faking the funk. He says the wii is missing something, then mentions steering wheel of a car but I know the sell some sort of holder for your remote to use it as such. What is really going on?
