Forums - Gaming Discussion - will miyamoto save sega japan?

With miyamoto working as producer on the sega developed mario and sonic olympics game will he be able to use his magic and pull sega japan out of the dumps that they have spent the last few years in? What was the last good game they made? Also is sega jap. working on nights?

You know, I wouldn't be suprised if within a year or two Nintendo owns Sega. They sure do have a close relationship right now. Add in the obscene profits Nintendo must be making now a days and Sega might see some form of merger/purchase as a pretty good option.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

IGN seems to think that Tose is developing the Mario & Sonic game. BTW...Sammy bought Sega awhile ago, so there is no way in hell Nintendo would buy Sega. Sega has useful properties...but Sammy is just baggage essentially, while Sega remains essential to Sammy...

I'm guessing Tose is helping out, and focusing more on the DS version as well.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Hm.. your right. I still think we're going to see Nintendo and Sega get closer and closer.

I don't know much about Sega's problems specifically, but I suspect that the problem with Sega has far more to do with awful management practices than anything else ... In order to "Save" Sega someone has to restructure the entire company and modify the development practices ... Miyamoto just doesn't have the power ...

Funny thread - you never know, its possible. Depends how "Olympics" turns out. In terms of promise, it could be absolutely huge. Think Wii Sports + production values + Sonic/friends + Mario/friends + online play + DS connectivity. If it works out, it could inspire Sega and change everything. Its unlikely, but there is a *chance* it could happen. It would be very amusing if it did ;) PS - Nintendo won't be buying/owning Sega anytime soon - remember that they are now partnered up with 'Sammy'.

I don't think that ths game will do well at all. Anything involving 20 or even 10 different sports is going to be pulling itself in so many directions that the game play is going to be horrible.

Sorta meant more along the lines that he will inspire them

I'm still holding out for Sonic in SSBB...that's all I'm waiting for...I'm skeptical about that now though...they said that's "not in the cards right now"...not sure if it's possible to change or if they're just not saying anything... off topicness!
