NSMB has no sold in 4,4 million Copies in Japan and are still going strong in Japan and is the second most sold mario game ever so far.. Super mario bros have sold in 6,8 million over there.. Do you think New super mario bros will pass that? I mean, its still pretty far away, but in mind that DS stills sells alot every weak and i belive that is game that very many of the new DS owers buy.. At least, i think so. it is possible isent it?

Did Super Mario Bros. come bundled with the console at launch in Japan? Because if so, than NSMB is easily the most purchased Mario game.

Being that it is following the pattern of many DS games of selling (roughly) 20,000 units per week for a long period of time so it is possible that (over the next 2 years) the New Super Mario Bros. could outsell the original ...

Its possible - but when you include *all* the versions of SMB that have been released (gameboy advance, etc...) it doesn't stand a chance. Regardless, the sales are extremely impressive - and shows what a good game it is.

Yet he's only referring to one specific platform, the NES. 5million+ is a lock imo, but with so many impressive, as well as high profile titles releasing in '07, (not everything I've listed is, but impressive nonetheless) you must wonder can it continue to sell at this rate? I realize no games can stay within the top 30-50 for as long as Nintendo's does, (years in some cases) which is why I said 5million+ is a lock. But there are other extraneous factors to consider as well. 6.8 in one territory (any territory including NA) is a very, very large number, it would have to sell well into 2008 to eclipse that number. Outselling all FF's & DQs released last gen. & since the PS1 days (FFVII) iirc.
