Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS3 not selling out would be good - Reeves

If they sell close to 1 million and still have some left over thats a good thing....its just as silly as saying if they sell 600,000 and run out its better than selling 800,000 and having more left for the weekend. Just baseless mindless hate in this thread...no logic at all if you think selling a huge amount of consoles and having supply left is a bad thing...now, if they sell 45,000 and have "some" left we can discuss, but based on the preorders and shipments to Europe id say if you think selling whats expected to sell (close to 1 million) and having supply left for more sales is BAD then you should ban yourself from life.

so the fact that the Wii has doubled PS3 sales but has sold out means nintendo is a disapointment? they are full of it. anyone get EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) Magazine and see 1 or 2 issues ago interview with the president of Sony? it was pathetic. all he did was make remarks to the past. his first real statement talked about an E3 demo of the PS3 (that happened 2 years before launch) and said the MEDIA were extremely excited from the demo. ummm, SO? who cares about what people though about it 2 years before it came out. if i recall correctly nintendo barly even had a Wii showing at E3 back then, and look how they are doing! his next statement refered to the fact that playstation has "owned" the market for the past 10 years. ok, mr prez, lets stick with the present. thats like nintendo saying they "owned" the market back in the 80's. then he really messed up as he GUARANTEED that no PS3s could be found at any retailer in the country. they called his bluff and said that they called 19 (or maybe 18) random gaming retailers and half of them had PS3s and some had as many and 20. at this point im sure mr prez loosened his tie and dabed his forhead with a wet towl before BSing his way out of that one. Sony is living in there own world. "maybe if we pretend the PS3 is doing as good as its predasessors and better than the Wii, itll come true."

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.

i work in a games shop in Ireland, we have under 20 pre-orders for the ps3 and over 200 consoles... who knows, we'll see how many people come in on the day

Not to be a jerk, but if you don't have a posting history I'm going to assume that you're just a troll ...

well i suppose my point about a guy with his first post saying his store in ireland has 200 ps3's and less than 20 pre-orders was made indirectly =)

Where in the quotation at the top of the thread does Reeves say the Wii is a disappointment because it's sold out??? All Reeves says is that they would like to have systems available for anyone who wants one. How did that get spun into Sony saying Nintendo is a disappointment?

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

I quoted you both because I was refering to both of you ...

Yojimbo said: Gamingdevil: Nintendo and Sony have shipped 6m units till 31march 2007. The big question is how Sony can produce that much? Saying that psp is not selling is a bad excuse, Sony produce other electronics not just "playstation". So I agree with your first argument that Sony is bigger. But i think it still wierd because that PS3 is harder to produce and Sony was 1 million consoles behind shipped in december.
Correction... Nintendo has shipped and sold over 6 million, PS3 has shipped maybe 4m to NA/Japan and 1m to EU. However, barely sold a little over half to NA/Japan and will probably do the same in EU. Like, 400,000 to a max of 600,000 in the launch week. As I mentioned in a different thread, March will be the only month that PS3 outsells Wii in EU, but not Worldwide. This is bad news for Sony, I would expect a sell out in the first week if there was to be considered a high in demand system. But, guarantee that there will be plenty of PS3 sitting on shelves from day one. All the while the Wii's will still be sold out.

I see many ebay auctions are completeing at less than cost, with a £425 RRP they are going for around £380 so anyone thinking of making a quick buck is going to be disapointed.
