Forums - Sales Discussion - 3rd party sales math games!

The clarity, the crispness. It is the diffrence from going from a old out of focus CRT, to a new LCD.
And again, your ignorance shines through. CRT has an infinitely better picture than even the best 1080P LCD. Oh, and to everyone, Kwaad would NOT have been flamed, had he not called me an idiot in the post prior to my rebuttle.

I mean under that two years word from other will cause more players to test the new controll these people will in turn cause more player to test and so on. [/quota] Two years? I think you raise this level a bit high. Depending on the intensity of the training this can get drastically shorter.
robjoh said: I really don't think I understand this, do you mean that Wii just have follow up games or what? Nintendo already has their new part the easy to use conroller which gives something new. As the consol matures the control will be used better in the same way that graphics will improve on the PS3 and xbox360.[/quota] Not quite. It is quite difficult to improve the controls, because they have build in absolute limits, to which you have to obey. Most importantly the precision and its dynamic responses. And even more importantly the evaluation logic (How are the discrete values of the control values. They have nearly nothing to do with the values that our body uses to contol its movements.
robjoh said: People that don't play today, is not doing it because they think that the graphics is ugly, they are not playing because they can't find a reason. If Wii can take this customars as Nintendo tries it wont matter if PS3 and xbox360 is more powerfull.
No, but most of these peoples will not really be interested in more or less classic hardcore games. They will be more interested in mini games, that are fun to play with other people. When they have two or three games, because for them the games do not really matter, but the fun that they have with other people. For Nintendo this is quite fine, because they already earn money with the console itself and they already have several mini games collections. For third party developers these people are probably dead numbers, the same problem that the PS-3 has with people that said "Oh fine a cheap BluRay player". Most of these buyers won't start to get deep into games.

Listen up kwaad you self important arrogant windbag. YOU much like in many of your other threads, dont have CLUE ONE about what you are speaking here, you need to shut up, get off the internet, and do some research, before opening your mouth, and infecting this forum again.
I don't post on here often although i read most of the stuff on here. i'm not a fan of flaming over the internet, and perhaps you took it too far, but i can share your frustrations here. Every time i see a post from kwaad i just shake my head. I'm sure the other people on here know what i'm talking about.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I don't see how anyone who's actually seen a movie in a theater switched over to DLP can even be arguing against Kwaad on this one. I just showed up to my normal movie theater one day and was stunned at how sharp and clear the picture had become. None of the spots or graininess or faded-out-ness that had always been present before. I don't care if 35mm film is technically capable of more 'cause the DLP just flat out looks better.

Well "infinitely" is a bit exagerated. LCDs have their biggest problems with colors, and the need to interpolate a disturbed iunterlaced SD image to a clean looking progressive HD picture. In all geometry parameters CRTs do not have a chance against a LCD or Plasma TV. Even more importantly they are in steady development. While the differences are no longer as big as one year ago (even cheaper displays totally overwhelmed Displays of the previous generation but they still get with every generation improvements, that the CRTs have not seen in years. I just had to exchange an old CRT with an LCD. In fact the normal TV image has improved considerably, the image of an older VCR is OK the image of an older DVD player had some problems but a newer Player connected with a HDMI connection is simply the best image I Have ever seen from a DVD (after some adjustments). So it is not as easy as you might think.

So those who today spend money on the Wii will just give it up? Well mayby but I doubt it. For the total sales of the hardware and software Wii can live on getting the "I just buy 2-3 games people". Honestly I think as long as 3rd parties and Nintendo continue delivers titles to Wii I have a hard time to see people just leave for xbox360 or PS3. I mean I can see a lot of people buy tiger woods, fight night, virua tennis after playing Wii Sport if these games will come to Wii. Some games will always be better with a traditional gamepad, but so what? To state that 3rd party sales will drop like a stone in two years because of the crappy graphics make me wonder. Because there is some genres that might get some new energy because of the Wii controls, I personally wants a more in dept boxing game for Wii. I also think that you underestimate the casual and "non-gamer" crowd. At least in Japan the DS is selling sick amount of software for the moment, if the DS can do this I think we might find that Wii can do the same thing if the entry and game cost can be kept low. NOW NOTE: I have all the time stated that what might happen, what I am saying is not the truth or the only future. But honestly I think that combining the casual gamers and N-fans will keep the 3rd party sales a float. More 3rd party exclusive might also draw in other gamers (more so if the Wii gets really cheap during the next two years) and keep the exclusives coming. If you look at the latest chart, from USA, the two best selling 3rd party games is exclusive, so a big treat against the sales for the 3rd parties can't as far as I see not be seen. Actuly I think the strength of the Wii is that it didn't try to outperform xbox360 and PS3. It tries to be something different. Not only is it different but will most probarbly continue to be the cheapest consol on the market leading to that it can also be the second consol in many housholds.

Especially when we are talking about sharpness and the geometry.

Kars, it IS that easy, LCD and Plasma Technology is still in its infancy, a CRT HDTV will have richer colors, blacker blacks, less artifacting, and a crisper picture, than ANY LCD, DLP, or Plasma on the market.

I think this thread has pretty much run its course.
