So the people responsible for the Wii, PS2 and DS versions of the Spiderman 3 game have been all fired...

I'd feel bad for the people, but I'm a horrible person.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

They shouldn't of done this to them, they never had enough time to finish the game. Its like asking Bungie to have finished Halo 3 for last christmas and then has many of the key members fired because it did not live up to expectations

Or asking Bioware to release KOTOR II at a specific time? I remember that one.

Yeah, although they made Spiderman 2 and Ultimate spiderman both were better then spiderman 3 so I don't know why they couldn't have come up with a better game it's not like they were new to the license or didn't know the movie was coming. Although the funny thing is the DS version got really good reviews, yet I believed it sold poorly so I think that might be their reason.

Yeah. That is too bad. Those games are always rushed, because the execs wanted to release with the game. That way, no matter how crappy it is, they can use the movie release to boost the sales to great levels. Doesnt work with all licenses, but I had high hopes for Spiderman 3.

I don't think it was the devs' fault. They have to work around ridiculously tight milestones anyhow, and trying to release the game with the movie due to some executive's boneheaded decision was the main issue here. The sad truth is most of the time it is the marketing department, who don't have the foggiest idea about software development, that dictates the development schedule, not the developers themselves.

It's Dilbert - marketing-driven development.

"We want a Spiderman3 game out in time for the movie release!"

"Great! We'll have a development schedule ready in a month"

"A month? That's when we will launch the game!"

"But... but..."

*cracks whip*

No sympathy. Their poor dev may have cost the developer 100m, maybe more.

Pity about the DS version though, I would keep those guys on - they can hang their heads high (although not sure WHO would bother buying Spidey3 for the DS...)

I agree that it most likely isn't the developers fault. I'd suspect the team did the best they could with the given time allotment...hopefully they all find a better company to work for that doesn't dictate release dates based on anything but the software =)

Mehh.

They will find a job, maybe.

I thought the SpiderMan game for the Wii was highly underrated. Its whole score was ruined by a short repetative game.  Short, yes. Fun, hell yes. It was still a very good game and well designed if you ask me.

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.
