As well as the DS Lite he would be died for the PSP?
Wii - March/2008 - 25 million consoles
PS3 - March/2008 - 8/9 million consoles
Xbox 360 - March/2008 - 15/16 million consoles
Who die?
"PS3 Domination in Japan starts in March with Gundam Musou!"
Being on the Famitsu most wanted list has no connection to a game selling well at all; all it really represents is that your game got a couple hundred votes from the "core" gamer demographic in Japan.
The funny thing is this used to be the favourite argument of XBox fanboys that the XBox would come back in Japan. Countless games like Halo, Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden would hit this list and they would proudly proclaim that the Japaneese would embrace the XBox with these game releases; as you can tell it never happened.
Even the Gamecube constantly had games which were at the top of the list yet it never seemed to gain any momentium.

Why in Japan did Super Mario Bros. Go from selling 3.51 Million on the SNES to only selling 1.92 Million on the N64? Remembering that Mario 64 was considered one of the most revolutionary games of its time ...
The reality is that the majority of games are not bought by die hard series fans. Certainly there may be 500,000 or 1,000,000 people who may buy a PS3 for Final Fantasy in Japan but most of the people who previously owned those games will not buy into it.
