I say this first, I did not read your wall of text, I skimmed it.

But from what I saw you're trying to say that GTA4 is so popular because of the Wii?

So no one ever wanted GTA4 before the Wii came out? But when the Wii released then everyone was like "Come on we want GTA4!"? And that's why the game got reviewed so high?

Try playing the game before you go crazy, maybe it deserves that 10 out of 10.

You apparently skimmed past the part where I said this isn't about GTA IV itself at all. I also haven't even mentioned the sales rate, nor have any reason to dispute it. It would be like me wondering why Brawl, a polished version of melee with tons of added features is selling at a better rate than Melee. GTA III sold well and GTA IV is supposed to be a more polished version of that, so it shoudl have a similar effect. What I am talking about are the reactions surrounding this game, not anything to do with the game itself.

The topic itself "GTA IV demonstrates HD console userbase desperation" is clear flamebait.

Third of all.

The poster clearly stated that the topic does not reflect the story, so it was merely a tactic to get people all 'worked up', as a way to gain viewership.


For reason 2 and 3, I am asking Mod to please lock this thread.

Try creating a topic and post people are interested in and might consider reading, not a 3 page article about whatever it is you're trying to say.

Uh, no, I said its hyperbole, not that it doesn't reflect the story

I'f you'd like, you might want to read up on the word here If I created a thread saying "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse" and then went on to talk about how I wanted a hamburger, that would not be a topic that was unrelated to the story, despite my lack of willingness to actually eat a horse.

and Username, apparently you were interested enough to comment. I don't see how you and kingofwale being unable to read 3 pages could be construed as criteria for this thread to be dismissed.

 

You said that reviewers are praising GTA IV to bring attention back to the HD consoles because they don't know how to review for the Wii and because the Wii's casual audience will make them irrelevant. At the same time, you spew hyperbole about the amazing control experience for the Wii and how people can't fall back on button mashing... except it's all the same on the Wii, just waggling the same way over and over again instead of hitting the same button over and over again.

The sums up the entire first half of your post and the fact that ckmlb got smacked down by a mod for calling you out on it (in much simpler terms) is just fucking pathetic.

Your whole post essentially boils down to "The Wii is great, it's won the consumer battle and the hardcore gamers and reviewers are latching onto GTA IV so they don't feel left out while the PS3 and 360 battle it out for last place and irrelevance."
