Yeah, I don't think the two are really even in direct competition with each other. I love both, but I don't really think of the Prime and 2D Metroid series as the same thing.

Do you think there's any chance we get both Prime Trilogy HD and 2.5D Metroid in 2020?

It is certainly possible. A lot of rumors say Prime Trilogy HD has been finished for a while and they're sitting on it.

Personally I'm only interested in a new 2.5D Metroid as I already own the Prime Trilogy on Wii and Super on SNES.

Yeah, I don't NEED Prime Trilogy HD at all. I've played all three games in the past year lol
Would I buy an HD port? Absolutely :D

Since both of these would make me very happy I choose to believe this rumour.

Signature goes here!

It's almost like these rumours are tailored to every Metroid/Paper Mario fan's wish list.

Yeah I believe the rumors that tend to be real are the ones that don't sound like a fan's wet dream. Too good to be true as it's said.

I would have prefered if it was a new Mario and Luigi game, since its the superior franchise, but its nice nevertheless.

Let's cry in unison cuz of the truthness of your statement 😭

I like M&L, but I find them rather dull, repetitive, and lacking charm compared to the PM series. Still great games.

Or Nintendo realized enough people have these wish lists and have wised up in making games that makes those fans happy and want to buy the game?

I would love if that were the case.  I just usually take these rumours with a grain of salt when they're always exactly what fans are asking for and Nintendo rarely delivers.

I kind of think Nintendo does a good job representing each franchise within a generation.  Yes, they do always insist on trying an "innovative" route, but I think this generation, they have delivered on a sandbox Mario, a Pokemon franchise on a docked console, and an Animal Crossing (that doesn't require amiibo and isn't a board game).  So why can't they deliver on this too?  Huh? Huh? :)

Sometimes the truth sounds too good to be true. Imagine if an insider told us in early 2016 that in addition to Zelda, 2017 would see a new exploratory 3D Mario, a new Xenoblade, and Splatoon 2. That would've sounded like a fan's wet dream at the time.

To play devil's advocate, Nintendo skipped Metroid on N64, GBC, and Wii U... They've proven that they can fail the fans with that franchise (and others like F-Zero).
