Bad PR man. The limited number of games isn't even the worst thing.

Does anyone remember the Steam Machine?? No?? Yeah nobody will remember this happened either
Its just far too niche and expensive to work. Cool concept piece tho, gets people talking.

It's not even a good prototype. It weighs three times as much as Switch and requires cooling by a fan to work, so it's not only uncomfortable to hold due to weight and heat, but has also pathetic battery life.

It's a piece of hardware to demonstrate what could be done if real world laws of physics didn't need to be considered. By the time this prototype could be market-ready, pretty much all of its now perceived advantages would be obsolete. So yes, this will indeed be forgotten.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

I have no idea what kind of games Alienware has or how much it costs. Other than their ability to talk smack about the Switch, why would a get this Alienware thing?

This will have about the same amount of impact on the console market as the alienware steam boxes had on consoles.

If it's cheap enough, has decent power, and access to certain games that my Switch doesn't have, I may buy one. I don't mind competition.

The problem I have with this is the same reason I can't bring myself to get a laptop. It'll be 4 times the price of a desktop with similar power. I guess If I had tons of money I'd get one, but I don't. xD

But considering you own 5 bloomin' Xbox One's for some reason I guess money isn't a problem for you.

I can explain!

-Bought the first one in 2014 for $400 when they were still $500. Couldn't pass up a deal look that!

-Bought the second one for $300 when they were still $400. That's an even better deal!

-Bought the third one (grey slim) from Amazon so my wife and I could play and watch movies in bed.

-Bought the third (white slim) because...okay, I was insane. I had purchased a screen to make my Xbox portable and the color didn't match.

-Bought an Xbox One X because I kinda had to at this point.

Pretty much have one under each TV. Mainly for the "smart TV" features they add. Also bought two as gifts. And I have not one but TWO Kinects. 😢

So... are they honestly suggesting their portable hybrid PC is going to cost less than the Switch? With the Alienware brand no less?

Legitimately interested. Fixes my main gripe about the switch. What will keep me from pulling the trigger is im still on physical media.

It runs windows, so it has access to any game available on windows/steam, etc.  So long as the specs are met.  So... you'll probably be able to play lots of PS360 era games, and indy stuff.  Modern AAA games will be a stretch.

I can't help but think this thing is the worst of both consoles and PCs. Like a console it can't be upgraded, or repaired. Like a console it's only so powerful. Like a PC it has no physical media. Like a PC buying a game for it involves wading through a confusing sea of stores, DRM policies, and whether or not games support controller play. Like an Alienware PC it is going to be insanely expensive. Give me a beefy PC, or give me a Switch. This thing is neither, and exists in some no-man's-land between the two.
