My two favorite series are Animal Crossing and Paper Mario. It feels weird to me how far we are into Switch and still don't have either of these out yet lol. Can't wait for AC!

Probably get both in 2020!  Ha

If PM is another cheap, simple game like CS or SS, then yeah probably. If a high quality proper RPG maybe 2021.

Yeah it woulda been nice to have the game to play this holiday, but it'll be even nicer getting a good n polished game, can't wait!

Bug Fables is to be ported to Switch next year so you will be right.

I don't see a Paper Mario game next year either but that's mostly because Nintendo is already publishing three significant JRPGs in 2020 (#FE, Xenoblade: Definitive Edition and Bravely Default II), so it would be a little overkill to throw in a Paper Mario game into that lot.

I don't see see how 1 more is gonna hurt. One of those is a huge stretch to call significant (#FE), two of em are remakes, and all of em are wildly different from each other.

Really? I only ever had the gamecube Animal Crossing, it was alright, but got boring after a bit. Obviously it is super popular, just not my cup of tea. Paper Mario to me is maybe Nintendo's worst franchise. Looooved Super Mario RPG but then Square left and they switched to Paper Mario and oh man, such a disappointment. I got the first one on N64 for a few bucks a few years after it came out and it felt like it was made for 5 year olds (absolutely zero challenge to what I played of the game). I got the 2d/3d switching one on the Wii and it was mediocrely interesting because of the switching mechanic but even that wasn't that interesting. I'll never understand the appeal of Paper Mario games for anyone older than like 6 years old.

Anyway, just thought it was interesting those are you favorite series since I feel totally the opposite haha. But yeah I would expect to see a Paper Mario in 2020 or 2021. Would make for a good AA 1st party franchise release for say like Summer 2020.

I think I can say with confidence, I was 1 of the 1st people in Europe to play animal crossing! I remember being enthralled by an import gamecube in a shop fairly local to me. It was in the back of a newsagents but was a specialised game store in the back, selling both retro and import games for all consoles. The gamecube was, in effect the central piece in there. I got talking to the owner and some of his staff. I think this was sometime around December 2001, shortly after U.S. launch. Iirc, I found out he was willing to sell his display gamecube (Which was unique I think, as it had been modded with a switch on the back to switch between U.S. and Japanese ntsc inputs for games.) I ended up saving up for it, bought it in early January 2002. Pretty sure it was out in U.S. about 18 months before it hit Europe. When searching for games to buy I stumbled across this weird title where the player went to live with animals. This game was of course animal crossing. I wasn't sure if I would like it but gave it a chance and soon became totally addicted! The added bonus was that, Nintendo wasn't even sure if or when they were going to even release it in Europe at the time. (It did become successful enough for a European release but it wasn't for about 2 years after.) So I was pretty blessed to play it early. Loved the original but I think the series has got steadily even better and his may be a predictable pick but I would say New leaf is my favourite. Sorry for the long rant.

DON'T WIN ME CHIBI BUDDY DON'T WIN ME.

ANIMAL CROSSING NEW LEAF FRIEND CODE:- 5129 1175 1029. MESSAGE ME.
ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

Yeah I'm about to revive my animal crossing switch thread with updated info. I might actually buy a switch in month or two.

whoops...sorry about that.  I'll give this one a lock, but you're going to have to get that Switch first.  ;P

No need to lock. I don't own monopoly on AC threads.  I was just waiting for another direct before updating thread.  They gave us some info during E3 but not enough to make me want to update thread.  We know have up to 8 people online and now starting on island.  Other than that not much else info except they turned game into crafting game like mmorpg or Minecraft.

#Fe is a port of a rather unpopular game. I doubt it will sell much or satisfy the rpg crowds thirst.

Xenoblade DE is the second remaster of a Wii game. Most who will play it probably already have and it will certainly not satisfy the new rpg desire people will have.

BD is new, I'll give you that will satisfy plenty. Overall, there is still a lot of room for a PM game in 2020 to sell well, and none of those games are as lighthearted or funny as PM.

It just doesn't seem logical to potentially cannibalize sales by stuffing too many JRPGs in one year regardless of whether they're ports or remasters.  But now that I think of it, I also thought it wasn't a good idea to release NSMBUDX, Yoshi's Crafted World and Mario Maker 2 so close together but Nintendo did it anyway and overall sales for all of them weren't really affected.

Xenoblade fandom has grown since the original game's release which was limited even on 3DS you needed a N3DS, DE is the first time it'll not have any such issues and with XBC2 having possibly around 2m sales the are clearly fans who have not tried the original plus DE can appeal to new fans as well it can easily satisfy the new rpg desire people have as the's no RPG really like it outside of its own series.
