This is one of the most Nintendoey things I've ever seen. Maybe mores so than labo.

It looks pretty cool, but I'm somewhat doubtful of its ability to pull in the masses. Mainly because to use it, you'll need to buy the more expensive model of the switch. $300 puts it a bit outside that impulse buy category. If it could work with the Switch Lite (without purchasing additional joy cons) it would probably have more of a chance.

I could still see this selling 2-3 million, maybe even 5. It'll be a decent seller, but not a megaton.

So when you say "we" don't have any concerns about droughts, what you really mean is you? Ok.

Yep...that's what my post said.  Because each division is working hard, ultimately there won't be droughts.  For individual gamers, sure.  But as a whole there are always products coming out.  Just like I enjoyed almost none of the last direct, but for handheld gamers and rpg fans there was plenty.

Uhh ... no it's not? If your post was just about yourself, that would be fine, but your post very clearly said:

" I honestly don't think we have any concerns about droughts for this system.  The games might not always be what you want to play, but there will be a steady stream."

You went from talking about how the entire consumer base for Switch should feel, to defending the perceived droughts of 2018 and early 2019 by saying that you as an individual had stuff to enjoy. Which seems really ironic. That last sentence honestly comes off a bit like telling people what to think, that despite the fact they might not like any of the games releasing, well there's a lot of them so you have to lay down and take it. Kind of cult-like, but I'm sure that is not the intent.

By the way, waving off individual complaints is a bad practice in an argument. Consumer bases are made up of individuals. If a large amount of the different consumer niches are overlooked, you get a very bad install base. So just saying that because there is a lot of content, Nintendo is doing good seems really misguided. Especially if that content is not of a wide reach or doesn't have selling power for a console. If I didn't have anything of interest to play on Switch, I wouldn't be applauding and cheering on Nintendo simply because there were a lot of games coming out. I might appreciate the fact that they're satisfying said content's consumer base, but I wouldn't downright say it's fine to not expand outside of that very limited scope.

Just food for thought. Obviously one of the strengths of 2019 is that there is so much diversity in the year's lineup, and there is also a huge amount of positive quantity and saturation in many genres as well, but I really hate it when people try to diminish "individuals" or what individuals think, because more often then not it's excusing a systematic problem. The beginning of 2019 wasn't good for me because a few 100k people got Mortal Kombat on Switch, just like it wasn't bad for Yoshi fans because other people didn't find Crafted World appetizing. The goal for Nintendo should be trying to appeal to as many demographics as possible, which is why they still make Blue Ocean games.

are you seriously saying this is the most interesting switch game on the entire switch platform? Or just for the motion aspect of the system?

Well, I dont own a switch because there isn't enough that makes me think it is worth the asking price.

This looks interesting, but of course it is just a trailer so I'm not speaking for the quality of the game.

Makes sense. I just asked because I literally didn't know if you were being serious or not : P Not trying to be snarky haha!

It certainly looks like an interesting title. Looks like a lot more effort than what I'd expect from this kind of game.

I'll take all of your criticisms wholesale.  I guess I was slightly drunk on the absurd of this idea's revelation and just spouted off some nonsense.  Thanks for your help.

Nothing wrong with being a bit looney or nonsensical at times. Maybe I came off more harsh than I intended to ... I just wrote a lot because my experience on this site has made me feel I have to explain myself thoroughly . I'm not upset or angry or anything. Really I just have noticed people occasionally downplaying individual opinions and experiences, which is an idea I felt needed to be nipped in the butt. I think people who are disappointed with a lineup or greatly appreciate it have equally valid experiences. Just felt like mentioning something.

Anyways, no problem here!

Looks fun actually, the narrators were annoying though xD

I don't see a substantial audience for this.

"Core" gamers will ignore it for making them exert themselves to a greater degree than lifting a cheeto to their mouth, and casuals will just go for a jog or to a real gym instead.

Also, those two actors were creepy as fuck, it was like they'd downed a whole bottle of Ritalin before the camera rolled and ate the cameraman alive and drank his soul as soon as "cut" was called.

I agree with Sean Malstrom, it won't work. Because it's something around the control and not the focus on an existing sports arcade mode, like Wii Sports. It is not a transposition that translates into an immersion activity by motion simulation. Remember more Kinect Adventures than Wii Sports.

I respect the hell out of Malstrom and find him immensely smart and wise (he's partly inspired me to write about games in fact) but he's taken a weird turn into cynicism again when it comes to Nintendo/Switch lately in general, just like in the early 2010's. In the Wii U era it was largely justified but it's been a head-scratcher for me now, in the mid-Switch era. Nintendo's new console is solid, region free, sports a fully handheld-home console hybrid functionality, and has a ton of games. Sure, a good chunk of them are ports, but Nintendo's starting to release new games like Daemon X Machina and Astral Chain as well that he seems to be ignoring. He seems to disregard sequels when it comes to "new games" on a console even if exclusive which is odd to me. But different strokes I guess.. I suppose I just value the handheld functionality of Switch more than he does.

But I digress.. I do think this game isn't going to garner anywhere near the same audience Wii Fit had, but at the same time it does look interesting and creative. I love the idea of a fitness game that is more in-depth. It's pretty damn weird for sure lol, but I do find the unique approach refreshing. The RPG thing for a fitness game might seem silly but at the same time, it could further incentivize people to spend more time playing it, vs Wii Fit which was very surface level and after like 20 minutes it tended to get boring. I do wonder how much of a real workout this will actually give you though, as I never broke much of a sweat playing most of Wii Fit's games aside from the jogging and maybe boxing. Hell Just Dance was more intense than Wii Fit.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident - all men and women created by the, go-you know.. you know the thing!" - Joe Biden

Boxing and jogging are the only ones which caused you to break a sweat? The running, rows, squats, pushups, lunges, planks, jackknifes, Those are both moderate exercises, the

Wii Fit games were never intended for heavy workouts. More around strengthening certain muscles that standard workouts tend to miss that really help with form and balance; also, and this can’t be understated, there is a significant mind/concentration portion to the routines. It’s something you can do every day. It’s also a lot of fun, and it will compliment your other workouts. It’s also (and this might just be me) one of the more fun video games of the past 20 years.

If you’re looking for simple aerobics, yes Just Dance is probably one of the greatest things ever when it comes to that... and that’s a major reason why I would love to see an integrated tracker for all applications. I’d love to see all the different sorts of games integrated.

Also, I’d like to see a weight training game. I am a big fan of the free weights, and I think they’d work well for a game... I realize the potential for damage that might open them to being sued, though. That’s my guess as to why this never happened.

Wii Fit and Just Dance are probably the two games I thought were the best use of the accelerometer controls on Wii (as opposed to the gyroscopic and IR motion controls: RE4, Scarface, and Godfather did the IR aiming the best, and it was probably the golf games that used the gyroscopic controls best, I didn’t really get too much into the precision motion gaming).

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

This doesn't seem like something that would appeal to the same people as Wii Fit. It looks a lot more niche. More interesting to gamers but less interesting to others.

So you think using Miis in a fitness party style game would suit that audience more than this?

I really wouldn't describe Wii Fit as a "Party Style Game". It was a game simply about exercising, weighing yourself and tracking your progress.

I think the fantasy elements and story will be a turn off to a large amount of people that Wii Fit appealed to. While to more traditional gamers it will be more appealing than Wii Fit was.

Wii Fit captured a large crowd of non-gamers and I'm sure they'd much rather have a Wii Fit style game that's just focused on the actual exercises than having some goblins or whatever running around.

This isn't going to be even remotely close to a 20m seller like Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus because it's got a much more limited market
