This same game as is would fail on Wii U as it would anything.

It's easier to bring back Wii Fit fans than to make regular gamers want to jump in into that in my opinion. In the end the appeal force is almost the same, the new feature of this game still appeals only for consumers that want a fitness app anyway, however as a new IP it fails to capitalise on a franchise continuity. The required peripherals would be the same, balance board would be optional. My family have one, I'd love to be able to keep using it without forcing anyone else to do the same.

Having worked at a games retailer during the Wii Fit and Wii U days, I can tell you that the kind of customers we're talking about strongly prefer everything they need to come in as few packages.  Even if the activities with the balance board are only optional, this will confuse them as to whether or not they need the balance board, and will make them less likely to purchase.

I think that even for the Wii Fit fans, the new adventure mode is the main selling point.  The more emphasis you put on that the better.  The product has enough similarities to Wii Fit that fans of that will already understand it is a spiritual successor.  The full Wii fit branding will confuse the message more than it helps.

I get your point. But I may have not expressed myself clearly. I don't suggest it to require extra packages. I suggest the same game, the same box, the same ring. The only change, the name: Switch Fit. It's not Wii or Wii U Fit. It's the Fit franchise for Switch.

Later on, a free DLC would add the balance board use. For those who have it, it's an extra of exercises. For those who don't own it and loved the game, they would be willing to purchase the balance board and have access to more exercises plus the beloved scale function. The Wii U Fit mobile thing to count steps could also be sold later on as another add-on.

I don't see this as killing sales. It'd just add features, let the balance board stay for those who want it and add a bit more profit for Nintendo. It's a simple and not confusing way to bring back the entire Fit solution without changing the original product: the app with the ring only.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

All I can add at this point is that I disagree, and Nintendo seems to feel the same way.

Exactly. I don't remember ever disagreeing with you, but I've been disagreeing with Nintendo longer than I can remember.

(Hope these images aren't doing that shitty thing where for no good reason they show up on my screen but don't work for anyone else)

This actually has an interesting art-style.

It does indeed, surprisingly so for a game of this type. I mean it's no graphical showpiece but it has its own identity at least.

So if I'm understanding this right, you can only play this on the regular Switch, even though the audience for it (being generous and assuming there even is one lol) are more likely to get a Switch Lite. Weird but alright, it looks better than 1-2 Switch and Labo atleast.

I don't see why you couldn't play it on the Switch Lite, since you can sync Joycons to the Lite. It wouldn't be the most convenient way to play, but it's not impossible.

Not sure if I'd say it has the same audience as the Lite though; the way I see it the main targets for the Lite are parents buying for their kids, the Japanese market, and 3DS owners yet to upgrade. I can't see Ring Fit Adventure being a popular kid's present or taking off with the portable-focused crowd.

I just might be the audience for this thing...and I'm definitely not the audience for the Switch Lite. I love the idea that I just might be able to get into a fun routine of working out and gaming at the same time. Of course, I bought Labo and have yet to put them together. But I was still part of the market. The same might be true for this. I could end up buying it (and I most likely will) and not playing it as much as I thought. But the same would also be said about me when it comes to Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I think my guests at parties have probably played SSBU more than I have.

Honestly, products like that (and Fitness Boxing, Just Dance and Wii Fit (U) before) can also appeal to avid sportsmen/work-outers like me. If you work-out hard daily/regularely you just need a fun and easing training session from time to time. It's very good to keep you motivated. After Fitness Boxing I really looked forward for more work-out games for the Nintendo Switch. Ring Fit Adventure looks just perfect for my fun training seesions. Really looking forward to it.

Ah didn't know you could sync joy-cons, though with how much they cost you may as well have bought a regular Switch. But alright, it can technically be played on Switch Lite, though I doubt many will bother. Like you said it's uber inconvenient, you can't hold the ring and system.

I don't see it being popular with anyone haha, but I do agree with the way you've framed the Lite's audience. I wasn't thinking as specifically, just that regular Switch is for more dedicated/hardcore gamers while Switch Lite for the more casual gamers. Like Labo this isn't for the former, it too was shown separately from general directs. After thinking about it though I guess there could be an audience for the thing if 1-2 Switch managed to sell millions.

I'll try it (I need to do more exercise) but I a want a wii sport game !!! It'll sell like hotcakes !!

I wouldn't say Switch is in anyway aimed at hardcore gamers. Refurbished NESs and over-the-top gaming PCs are aimed at hardcore gamers.

I also wouldn't say Switch Lite is aimed at casual gamers, that's mobile.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Yeah pretty much, I can't see many people going to the bother of playing Ring Fit in a Lite. It's one of those things where it's like you technically can, it's such a hassle it's hardly worth it.

I don't expect it to be super popular either, but as you say, if 1-2 Switch of all things sell a few million (which tbh still absolutely baffles me) I think maybe this can as well.
