Forums - Sony Discussion - Bluepoint Director teases "Legend of Dragoon Remaster"

Would buy. Never finished the PS1 version but it was really fun.

Bluepoint said after their SOTC remaster/remake that their next project was going to be their most ambitious yet.
Remaking such a JRPG would fit this quite well.

But he says remaster, not remake. Bluepoint is working on R3make. My wild guess. Their biggest project yet, re-envisioning an old classic millions anticipate. That doesnt sound like an obscure JRPG like Lagoon of Dragon or whats it called.

Capcom revealed outsourcing R3make, and its not going to be what people expect.

In one interview, they mentioned how they make remasters of older games. Then said that for SOTC, what they achieved was more a remake than a remaster, and then they used the term reimagining to describe their next project because the task is even more ambitious.

I am not saying their next project is a remake/reimagining or LoD, but it is something that is even more demanding than what they achieved with SOTC, which, let’s be real here, was an absolutely colossal (intended) task!

Unless it's built from the ground up like they did RE2 I don't think I can play it.

Only a remaster? I mean, I'd buy it but I kind of want a Remake. But man, I would love to hear what they could do with that soundtrack today. The only thing about a true remake is, I wonder if Sony would want it to be a re imagining as an action RPG...to which I might have an issue with.

Why? Legend of Dragoon had the most repetitive battle system of all time and that is on both player and enemy side (enemies had a few attacks with needlessly long animations). There are 8bit RPG's with more variety, hell, SONY's own Legend of Legaia (Another arts based combat battle system) was waay better. Any change would be good.

Yes, hence why a remake would be better than a remaster.

We embrace change, when its for the better.

Eh, I liked it. I wouldn't mind them changing the combat to an extent, just keep it turn based. I wouldn't miss the button prompts as long as it's still the classic turn based style that I like. If it was like FFXII or Xenoblade I'd be find with it. If it's like Dragon Quest XI I'd be fine with it. Legaia was good, and Xenogears was basically Legaia's battle system (but better) and I liked them both. I just prefer Turn Based to Action RPG. I'm an old soul.

And hey, long animations were a byproduct of the time.

Spoiler!
*cough, cough Knights of the Round*
