Have you bought stuff cause of Ads?

Forums - General Discussion - Have you bought stuff cause of Ads?

Sometimes when it was new ad and a new product, just to test it. Most of the time, it stayed at that one test, because it couldn't beat the product I was using until then. But sometimes, it did, and then of course I bought the new one instead of the old one. However, I don't think that this happened more than 6-7 times in almost 20 years now.

Just to remind marketing is more than ads. And winning mindshare and translating that to more sales is the objective. Impulsive buy is a more rare occurance.

Ads are most about mindshare. You probably don't need this thing now, but we are going to remind you x product exists and its AWESOME!1!

Cue some time later you need a thing and oh hey x product exists and then you go out and buy it.

I tend not to need things and I tend not to view media that has ads but i'd obviously be wrong in thinking that ads don't work on me. They work on everyone. Some ad somewhere has caused you to buy a thing and you probably don't even know it.

Well, like I already posted earlier, I learned about delicious Fatburger milkshakes from a window ad. In general though? Ads play a part for sure. I bought my beloved Phillips One Blade after first seeing it in an ad. I did do a bit of research too. I guess I would say "discovery" info about products I eventually buy comes from a number of sources, including ads.

Yeah I agree with a previous earlier comment, I don't normally buy something because of an ad, just if I was going to buy something and being busy I forgot and it reminds me.
