I'm constantly using the rewind function on some SNES games. It's definetly cheating... but you can't deny it's super handy. Specially for silly mistakes that costs you a lot. Or in games like A Link to the Past were many heart pieces are based on random events that can take forever for no reason. I just rewind and try again.

In Super Metroid though... I have played the game so many times I don't really need to rewind. Although Phantoon still gives me a run for my money...

BTW, did I used the money expression correctly? I heard it many times, but I'm unsure how it's constructed xD

You used it perfectly, actually. You have a few verb conjugation errors elsewhere in that post, but you got that expression spot on!

Thank you! Yes, I can see some of those errors now... "costs" should be "cost", "were" should be "where"... and probably more xD

VGChartz is the only place where I practice written english... so if any of you see any mistakes on my part, feel free to tell me.

Metroid Prime was my 1st in the series. I f*cking loved it. I knew of the series before, but i had a sega genesis so i missed super. I went back and tried it. Got to Kraid, but kinda lost interest after that. I think Prime 2 ended up being my favorie, but i couldn't have truly appreciated it without the 1st prime game. The whole light and dark gimic gets me everytime. Also, anyone else thing the ing were in zelda twilight princess? :) I enjoyed the end of corruption, but i wasn't big on the new bounty hunters. As i suggested, i really prefer the 3d metroids. I'd love to get a 2d remaster collection on switch. I'd play through them in small spurts. But yeah, i don't like them as much as the 3d ones (not counting federation force). Okay. Now... i have a confession. I really enjoyed other M! There i said it! I'm a monster! No for real though. As much as i love the atmosphere and gameplay of the prime series, i never clicked with samus. As others have said in the past she seems kinda like an empty suit of armor. Seeing samus actually go through some actual emotions was really satisfying. I know people really had a problem with how the director approached the character, but it seems like they had already decided what they wanted the character to be without the traits actually being established by the games. It's worse than zelda because at least you get to see links facial expressions. Now, it was by NO means a perfect game The 1st person turret shooting was dumb, & the walking segments felt like they lasted foreveeeeeer. BUT! that game gave us, what i feel, is like the coolest addition to the lore since the original game; ridley's gestation cycle. Little birdie was the star of that game for me. And when samus finally came face to face with ridley i had absolute chills. Alot of people critisize that ridley, but i thought the imagery was fantastic. It was like satan himself was rising from hellfire to claim his most sought after soul. Anyway, i have no idea what to expect from mp4. I'm sure it won't be out till like 2022, but i can't wait. Metroid went from being a missed title on older systems to one of my top 5 fav franchises.

Yes it is Kraid I am facing I do think the rewind function may just be what I need thanks to everyone who chimed in.

Check the link below. (note to Admins: it's not really porn please don't ban me!)

I prefer Super Metroid. Recently replayed with the SNES Switch Online.
About Metroid Prime, I prefer Prime 2 Echoes.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Get those votes in, folks! Just like last time this one is neck and neck. It's the Metroid showdown of all Metroid showdowns. Super Metroid vs Metroid Prime. 2D vs 3D. The old guard versus the new. I'll call a winner at 9am on Monday morning!

There's not nearly enough love for Echoes out there.

I played Metroid 1 and 2, enjoyed them both quite a bit. I have yet to play Super Metroid for more than about 30-40 minutes.

I tried to get into Metroid Prime, and I played through a substantial portion of it. While I found the game to be pretty in certain parts, the intrusive switching between scanner and gun ruined the experience. Also, the scanning was overdone: far too often was it repetition or below trivial information. The issue with all the repetitive/useless information was that there was that if you skipped any of it, you could miss important things, many required for progression. Much would halt your progress including the sort of "find the needle in the haystack" to proceed. It was rife with the kind of annoying design that characterized late N64/early PS2 titles.

And this was with the superior Wii version of the game; I found the sluggish/tanky controls on the NGC version of the game to be near unplayable.

My other major complaint of Metroid Prime is the game felt too empty, too desolate. While Super Mario Galaxy also had an isolated feeling to it, throughout could be found pockets of wonder and amazement. SMG was like being a lonely University student wandering around an art gallery and then bumping into a beautiful woman who wants to talk about the art, then go out for drinks after. Moments that were magnified by the fact they were in the desolation of outer space. Metroid Prime was all desolation; it felt too empty. It's funny because Metroid 1 and 2 didn't have any towns or allies of any sort, but they also had the feeling of wonder. In Metroid 2, there was something enjoyable about seeing the new types of Metroids and the next big area. In each game (especially the first), there was the thrill of mastering certain types of obstacle courses. None of this was present in Prime - the platforming was trash. Also, the world of Metroid 1 felt very open; this seems not to be the case of any other Metroid game since. Apart from Super Mario Galaxy, Hollow Knight and Undertale are great examples of the sort of feeling I want from a Metroid game.

In other words, neither of those two are my favourites. One of them is my least favourite Metroid game, the other I have yet to play. In all honesty, Metroid Prime 3 might be my least favourite; I liked the first hour of it even less than MP1 - but again, I didn't play it much.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

It has been decided! Metroid Prime narrowly edged out the win against Super Metroid.  I think we can all agree, however, that both of these games belong in the top 20 games of all time and picking a favorite is a special form of torture.  Thanks to all who voted.  The new poll will be up momentarily.

Which one is your favorite?

Super Metroid (SNES) 16 48.48%

Metroid Prime (GC) 17 51.52%

Total: 33

Alright!

New poll is up.

You'll have to forgive some of these options. I was feeling a bit zany. So what do you think? Which Metroid Sequel would make you the happiest to play? Obviously we know that Metroid Prime 4 is in development and most likley will be released (fingers crossed). The rest of these are either rumors or random brainstorms. Feel free to speculate about your own Metroid sequels or spinoffs as well. Happy voting!

metroid 5 I definitely want more(shit i still want a port of samus returns on switch) I will probably skip prime 4 unless theirs an option for 3rd person camera
