By the way, that Super Metroid/Metroid Prime rivalry is on fine display in the poll. I'll be shutting the poll down this Saturday, so make sure to get your votes in if you haven't. This one is going to go down to the wire. We might even have to do a runoff vote.

Sooo...why not multiple organic wholes? It just seems like an unnecessary distinction here. If Prime and Prime 2 were one game, and you went to one planet after the other, would you hate it because there were two planets?

First, I don't hate Metroid Prime 3.  I very much look forward to playing it on the Switch one day.

Second, it was the graphical stitching issue that bothered me more than anything.  It really broke the immersion every time I left the planet.  And such an unnecesary error that I'll never understand.

Finally, to your question: That seems like a wholly different idea that you are presenting there.  And yeah, probably not going to like what you've presented as much.  That appears episodic.  What I'm saying is that there are parts of Prime where you are in some ruins for instance.  You find a save spot, see a hole behind it, travel through it and find yourself back in the opening area.  Mind blown.  Totally not expected.  And for speedrunners this is one more tool to put on their belt.  The same is true for Super Metroid.  It's that shock and wow factor.  When you travel to exact points on a map it just doesn't have the same feeling.

I thought you were talking about elevators versus space travel. And the episodic Prime 1 & 2 was just an example with no thought put into it, to make clear I was just talking about the existence of multiple planets in a game, each the size of Prime 1's or Prime 2's, asking if the very presence of space travel was enough for you to think it wasn't "organic". I wouldn't want it to be quite that episodic, though having multiple plots that interact with one another and fit into an overarching one would be cool. As for that interconnectedness of areas you're describing, the kind where areas connect directly with no need for any transition, elevator or otherwise, I don't see any reason why that wouldn't be possible to do on multiple planets, especially if they're all the size of Tallon IV or bigger.

Yep, totally possible to have interconnected planets with little holes opening up into another.  The animation would have to be really cool, not jarring, no load time, and without the use of her ship to have the same effect.  Just keep me immersed in the action.

Oh yeah OP, please make a poll between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime. Let's decide this once and for all! :D

The separate levels, the broken division from world to world, is exactly what I loved about MP3.

Ok, folks, it's time for a run off between the two juggernauts of the Metroid franchise.  Super Metroid vs Metroid Prime, Nintendo R&D1 vs Retro Studios, 2D vs 3D.  Get your votes in.  I won't be creating an alternate answer in this poll, so if you're on the fence you'll just have to flip a coin or something.

I think Prime is better than Super. The only bad thing people keep bringing about Prime is the Chozo Artifacts quest... but to me it wasn't bad at all. By the point I defeated the Omega Pirate in my first playthrough I already had like 8 Artifacts. So the backtracking was minimal. Also, since they tell you where each artifact is, I never felt like it was something boring or tiresome...

I don't have any problem with Metroid Prime.  That fetch quest certainly is a bit of a slog, but it fits the epic moment you're building up to.  I still pick Super, though, for many reasons.  Mostly because it is a perfect execution of the original design began in Metroid.  It is a joy to traverse at all times, no point is too far out of reach to get there in moments (if you have the right ability or skill), and the game rewards you consistently for putting in the time.  I'm still enjoying in the last week honing a new speedrun path and trying to make sure how to fit in a 100% run around it.

I will say this...if Nintendo would release that Prime trilogy and I would be playing it right now, I might be swayed toward the Prime camp.  But as it stands, my first love will always be Super and that's very difficult to override.

Has to be Prime. It was the first Metroid game I played and it's still one of my favorite games of all time. I can't beat the first boss in super lol of course I could try harder but new games have spoiled me maybe on the switch online I can handle it.

Check the link below. (note to Admins: it's not really porn please don't ban me!)

Super Matroid is my favorite game of all time. Prme is also excellent in every aspect, but Super Metroid is still a tiny bit better.

Also, that fetch quest is not bad at all because since it is so late in the game it allows for one last swipe through the entire map to gather all the last missing items and to prepare you for the final area.
