Forums - Gaming Discussion - What Game Are You Best At?

I’m best at games that let me cheat...

We've all played many different games over the year. Games are all about skill. Naturally we are better at some games than others but which game are you absolutely best at? It could be multiplayer or singleplayer? A game you know so intimately that you consider yourself a pro.

I'm really good at RPG's (I always finish them, to the bitter end), puzzle games (Provided I am given proper time, I hate being rushed) and I have my fair share of platformers on which I used to excel, not sure that I still do as I don't play much of those games these days.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 2.

Halo. Reach, specifically. I was a monster. I've never played anyone local and lost. Online, even though my stats don't reflect it because I would put my controller down and walk away out of boredom, I was disgusting. Next would be No Mercy for 64. Those 2 were my bread and butter.
I can hold my own in DoA (2-6) but I need to hone my skills.
Right now, I'm trying to get good at Mario Maker 2. I would love to make some money on YouTube. I can do most kaizo tricks but again, I need to hone my skills.

Chess

Maybe Dark Souls 3

Although I've played my fair share of traditional turn-based jpg's in my day, I'd be lying to myself if I said if that genre of games required skill.
I will also make the obvious argument that the more you play a game, the better you get at it. In my case it was games I played a lot and got good at unintentionally. As a matter of fact, any game I tried to get intentionally "good" at never saw success. Street Fighter is a good example. As much as I played SFIV, I could never compete with the pros.

My list:
Mega Man X series: I played them so much I could sometimes finish them without taking damage
.
Resident Evil 2 & 3 for PS1: If youtube was a thing back in the day I would probably be a top speed runner

Dance Dance Revolution: I never realized how good I was until I was at a mall late 2000's with a few of my siblings and my nephews. My nephews quartered-up on a DDR arcade machine, and I made jaws drop that day. Truth be told, I used DDR to stay fit as I was bit chubby and out of shape. I hated exercising but loved video games. I figured if it was a game I wouldn't get bored. DDR was a lifestyle until about 2013. Would play it 2 hours each night before bed. I got extremely good because I played it religiously for about 5 years. It was the healthiest 5 years of my life.

MGSIV: I completed the game so many times that I could effortlessly finish the game without a single kill in under 2 hours. The big mama motorcycle level was the only thing that truly challenged me.

I like this thread.

I am the black sheep     "of course I'm crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong."-Robert Anton Wilson

I was a monster at Gears 1 back in the day. 1v4's were quite doable if the other team wasn't up to scratch.

Before the internet, I was the single greatest Street Fighter 2 player on the planet. Boy am I humbled, now!

Fighting games in general (outside Smash). Consider myself top tier Tekken and Street Fighter player (not Pro level), can definitely hold my own.

I'm sure I did, but I never really followed the DOTA scene after that so I dont know. I do know I played some of the absolute best players in the world in BW and WC3 for many years though. I practiced a lot with AT-Intox for instance the months before he Won CPL, Elky, Saft, MadFrog, Everlast and many others of the best BW/Early WC3 players aswell.

Any of these Dota names bring back memories? https://www.dotahaven.com/en/guide/the-10-best-dota-players-of-all-time-in-the-west/

I'm a big fan of the Dota 2 pro scene, especially KuroKy.

Hmm sorry. I cant remember much from my dota days at all, I practically didnt play any Dota 2 and after 2006 or so I was fully focused on 1on1 and 2on2.. I might have played S4, I have heard from a friend that we did play someone from Alliance at some point. But no names. Dota was always the sidetrack compared to regular WC3.
