I'm suggesting if you're care enough to make a thread about it how about taking a side or simply giving thoughts on potential outcome of going either way.

You don't have to own a X1 to feel MS has some obligation to give Xbox One owners the next Halo, the game they promised to X1 owners. Maybe some feel the Xbox One was a failure and they should move forward, but that would also be punishing the Xbox One owners.

I just wanted to see what other people thought about the idea. It doesn't affect me personally.

I think you're missing the point...

If I cared enough to make a thread I might have some thoughts. Why do you care about the opinions on this thing you can't even bother to form a thought on?

Perhaps you were bored and just wanted to make a thread, but at least try to give it a little thought.

Id say yes, great incentive to move people forward.

Yeah, they will be glad to move forward after having what is potentially the biggest X1 exclusive cancelled.

Hence, they should appease the people that bought X1 as well given they were promised this game.

Nah, it would be a dick move to their XBO install base.

That's business, and we cannot hold a company ransom because of X1 adopters. Bring on next gen.

I want to say yes, but then again I don't think it's going to make a massive difference to sales of the next console. I think most players who would buy the next xbox at launch to play Halo would do it even if they can play the game on XBO. Early adopters will buy it anyway.

Whatever happens it'll be too late now. There's no way a year out they could decide to drop current gen and improve it enough for next gen to take full advantage.

It'll be out on PC regardless and the Current gen is basically a PC so it'll not make much difference anyway I'd be surprised if they dropped it.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

You mean to promise their customers a game for more than two years on an specific console and then all of a sudden tell them that they would not be able to play it unless they buy a new one? Sure, why not? What could possibly go wrong?

In all seriousness though, no console maker should ever do that. EVER.

Nintendo might be able to get away with it given how... supportive Nintendo fans are; but MS would not. The media would eat them alive and their haters would not shut up about it for all eternity.

Current PC's are vastly superior to the consoles on various fronts, so that shouldn't be used as reasoning to keep an Xbox One version.

Either way... The game has had years of development likely with the Xbox One in mind, so it's not going to get it's support dropped from those platforms, plus it wouldn't result in a dramatically superior game anyway.

In saying that... I wouldn't be against the idea of dropping the Xbox One and Xbox One X consoles (This is coming from as an owner) and spending a few extra years in development, overhauling the game to give us a truly next-gen Halo experience.
The Xbox One wasn't a great console on the hardware side of the equation even on release to begin with... Would be nice to finally have that baggage dropped and seeing increases in geometric complexity, draw distances, texturing, lighting, shadowing, physics and particle effects and so on. - Maybe Ray Tracing?

--::{PC Gaming Master Race}::--

It worked fine for The Last of Us and GTA5 so I think it should be good to do cross gen.

MS needs Halo to be played by as many Xbox owners as possible. First they need them to see the game on their hardware and the difference when you go all the way up to Scarlett. Everyone likes to play games in their best format especially if there is a huge difference between the different hardware. If Halo really scales up to Scarlett where its not only a noticable difference but console defining then it should move hardware for purchase on the new system.
