Forums - Gaming Discussion - Take a video game company you think is failing and steer them in the right direction.

KONAMI

Port all MGS to Switch, especially MGS V

Work with Monstercat and other record labels to bring back DDR

Let an indie studio take over Mystical Ninja

Partner with Yacht Club on new 2D Castlevania

I think they are the verge of all this

EA

Retain the Star Wars license but give up exclusivity

Stop making excuses about the Switch platform

Sims 5 with AI that interacts with you

Make sports (FIFA, Madden) video games free to play

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Ohh man. So many of you guys would put companies into straight nose dive into bankruptcy. This thread is great.

Most of these companies are honestly in no danger of failing anytime soon. Konami, for instance, has several different lines of business back in Japan including a chain of gyms as well as a slot machine business that actually does a lot of business in Vegas.

Konami effectively quit the video game... game because the ROI simply wasn't worth it compared to its other ventures. They figured out they were much more profitable pouring most of their video game investments into more lucrative industries. As much as it sucks for me as a die-hard Metal Gear Solid fan - it makes business sense.

My point was that a solid chunk of these decisions people would make have no plausible way of ever making a return, and some of them even have companies literally taking all of the profitability out of very lucrative franchises for no good reason other than, I assume, the posters want the game experience they want to be available or cheaper for them pretty much exclusively.

Yeah it sucks, did grow up with the mgs franchise since my teen years and it was sad to see on what note it ended with the second half of mgsv, that game is partly brilliant and partly disapointing.

I think it was wholly brilliant, just unfortunately unfinished. At least he got to tell how the story would have ended if he had the time.

Hey in my defense Nintendo can lose money for half a century and still exist:

As my idea went...

....I'd comment, but frankly the only major company I think about enough (Nintendo and the overarching companies) I actually like. Yes, even Game Freak. Oh I have things I'd do in office they aren't doing now: I'd probably go hunt down fired, departed, or disgruntled creators of games from other companies and tell them 'I'll pay you to have your own studios, though prove yourself first'.

For example if I had a studio led by some former Assassins Creed guy, they'd prove themselves with a Sheikah themed game with Assassins Creed flavor. Or if I had a former FIFA person of some renown, I'd have them make a Nintendo franchise sports game. Those go well, then they can make whatever they more individually want to make mixed with successors to the above if wanted (perhaps they want to make a game about Sasquatch armies destroying everything in Alabama or something).

I would probably do things to expand Game Freak and take them off their current schedule (I'd add a year or two to each generation and have side studios make Pokemon games to keep the generations going), but I am not going to be that weirdo who wants to give their stuff to Bethesda.

Finally I would probably find a way to buy some studios, and then in a press conference about it I would state quite publicaly 'we are buying this studio so only our fans can play their games going forward'. Honesty is the best policy after all.

...

Opening a few new studios for more games is a recoupable expense: if the most expensive game in Nintendo's history was Breath of Wild that needed just to sell 2 million to break even, it shouldn't be too difficult. An adjustment on Game Freak will probably have more a cost effect long term, but that's probably not enough to make things problematic.

MY!Nintendo buying From Software, Bungie, Projekt Red, or something to make their games Nintendo only (and publically saying that is the reason) is probably the most cost destructive expense, but that is probably the hardest of these things to do anyway.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Bethesda start working on a new engine for The Elder Scrolls VI or just use a third party engine.

Media Molecule, Start working towards a point that they can actually release Dreams this gen.

Nintendo, Start making a Mario and Luigi game and a new Strikers game.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

The second part had that filler going on that was in stark contrast with the first half of the game, suddenly the story was put on hold and many asset's and mission were reused.

I want to say **** Konami but i'm not sure.

Anyway

Ontopic

Konami:

Rework and hire new talents for the next installment of metal gear and invest greatly in it to regain the trust of the playerbase.
