Delivering Breath of the Wild on Wii U was their show of good faith. They gave us what was promised and signed off on a great game, then gave us a better platform to play their new games on. 

Yeah, i wouldn't call BotW on WiiU a sign of good faith, they would come off as enormous pricks if BotW was released exlusively on Switch.

To be fair, @HoloDust, assuming most Switch early adopters were hardcore Nintendo fans, the Wii U userbase had fully transfered itself to the new console in about what, six, nine months?

Besides, it's nothing new. The same happened to Super Paper Mario and others back in the GC days. Not to mention your ROTR comparison seems a bit flawed when the PS360 had an userbase of over 160 million versus 12 million for the Wii U.

Nintendo did right to abandon the Wii U, in my opinion, and I am a day 1 Wii u owner who wishes they'd put all their Wii u games(mainly Pikmin 3 and Mario 3dworld) on the switch so I can get rid of it

Other companies in their position might have. But Nintendo did right by U owners by giving us what was promised, then delivering a far superior successor to the Wii U. That's how you show good faith to your customers; not by wasting resources to prop up a failed system long after it is dead and replaced, but by correcting your mistakes and making sure your next system is better.

Judging by the Switch's meteoric success, it would seem most consumers, including most Nintendo fans, are happy with how things went.
