Forums - Gaming Discussion - MK11 is a grind fest, with Microtransactions

I haven't seen anything scandalous or anything that would lead me to believe the microtransactions are causing things to be pay to win.  Also, Netherrealm has already come out and confirmed that they are putting out a patch, early next week at the latest, to make the towers of time more fair and worthwhile to farm.  All the crying about microtransactions and such on this one appears to just be the standard "microtransactions are the devil I don't care" type of response.

There is no pay to win for the grind, its all cosmetic stuff.  It really isn't that much different from InJustice 2 where they had a ton of little customization you can play the single player for.  For people who only want to play the MP, it could be a bore which is understandable but then again you can just cheese these towers by creating an AI and have it mine for you while you sleep.  I will say, anytime you give people the option to pay real money to unlock stuff, the developers put themselves into this situation but there is nothing nefarious going on as far as the game goes.

After playing a bit more, it seems that a lot of Koins can be earned from the dailies, and you also get a lot for doing the tutorials and entering the Krypt for the first time. Koins for individual matches are very low in komparison. I haven't done much towers yet, so I dunno if maybe they pay out better, but it seems that doing the dailies is well worth the time (I had one for just playing a single match as Kitana).

I'm level 12, for the record.

I did spend a good deal of time practicing Cassie Cage combos using a YT vid I found. Getting skilled at this game requires fast inputs oftentimes within just a few frames of time. One of the kombos that I found required a special move cancel from Cassie's back 1 (or whatever the move is where she back-hands the opponent) into the gunner attack (where the opponent gets shot up into the air and pulled toward you with a few more bullets). It took me a long time to figure out why my inputs weren't working, and I thought I was doing it too fast, when in fact I wasn't doing it fast enough.

Also, perfect blocks seem to require ridiculous timing, and I can almost never get them.

In order to unlock the chest for specific Characters you need the hearts.  You have to farm 250 hearts to open these chest and they are actually not random.  People are already mapping out where these chest are at so people can go straight to them and get what they want.  These chest are the ones that have the brutality and other big stuff.

As for the gameplay, there is a lot more footies in this game compared to MKX and you are right, you have to be very quick to punish wiffs and other stuff including canceling into other moves.  One thing I do like is that the game gives a very good tutorial and also give frame data on each move so you know which ones are safe and which ones are very risky.

I opened one of those 250 heart chests already, but I don't remember who it was for. I'll have to save up more and get them for the characters I use most.

And yeah, the tutorials helped immensely. I don't play many fighting games, but this seems totally different to MK from back in the SNES/Genesis era.

No, no, no. You probably didn't understand. We need PIXEL TITIES, alright? This is highly important. Pixel Titties. There aren't enough places online where we can see them already so we need our pixel tits EVERYWHERE. If the men walk around half naked the ladys must do the same. Equality, yo!

Also, other fighting games show their female combattants in much, much more revealing outfits so Mortal Kombat surely needs to step up its game. It's highly important, I tell you. Otherwise the quality of the game suffers immensely. Pixel titties.

We needs them Big and bouncy. Precious big bouncy boobs. The three Bs to a successful game.

Personally i do not care about that being in the games or not but i would take an issue with them listening to a vocal minority outrage about everything that can mildly be close to being offensive and use that to transform the game for a mayority of players that never had a problem with it,most people do not give two shits about the males being almost naked so why would a female showing some skin be such a far more sensitive matter?

Bringing up realism like ive seen people do is also a bit strange when talking about games as MK,its not a fighting simulator.
