I think my limit is $499. I'd sit better with $399 and would much prefer $299, but hey. We'll see. I certainly paid more for my original PS3, (I think at the time it was $749 CAD) but I don't think I'd do that again... and I don't see Sony releasing at that price point again as it'd be a shot in the foot.

I paid CAD 1700 for my gaming laptop which won't last 6 years running the latest games. I use my ps4 a lot more. So whatever it takes, I'll get one day one and it will likely easily outperform my laptop.

$0.00

I don't know what any of the games are. I am not willing to spend a dime until it has games that I want. If games are similar quality to PS4, then about $200. If games are similar to PS2, then $400 at most. I have yet to get a Playstation at launch though, because it usually takes them a few years to get some games that I like.

$499 CAD, which means it would need to be $399 USD, and since it seems likely it'll be $499 USD at launch, I'll have to wait a year or two, which I do most of the time anyway. I much prefer the kinks to be worked out.

The only way I see the $550+ crowd having their way, is if a $399, 1080p/pseudo 4k base model launches as well.

If MS offered a $599 model because they also had a highly affordable model, would you jump ship because you could only get a $499 PS5 for the next 3-4 years?

I bought a PS3 at the UK launch for £425 so I guess I might spend up to £500, but I don't think it should be priced that high. Most people aren't going to go for a £500-600 console and they leave themselves wide open to be undercut by the competition.

I think staying close to the PS4 launch price is a good idea but I really need to know more about the console. Its possible that Microsoft are considering a premium price sku selling alongside a budget one so unless Sony are going to do the same, it's probably a bad idea to price at the same level as the higher end model of the Xbox.

The 600 crowd have got to be Sony meat bots (and products of their influence as well as console warriors picking up the trend) the trend of pushing this was all too suddenly started, spread to far and wide all in one go and is too precise and consistent for it not to be a concerted effort. I don't know what the end goal would be, perhaps to over extend the pricing in people's mind so when it drops at 500 it "feels" like it is cheaper. Discussions on the internet don't just pop up like this with dozens of people giving their opinions on something very specific like 599/600 in such a narrow period of time. This is not organic.

Could be opposition 'bots' pushing it, hoping PS is full enough of themselves to go for 14TF and either launch at $599 again or have to eat so much cost they can't compete with a $399-$499 XB 'powerhouse' Anaconda bluff. Either that or 'bots' in the know who are aware of the true $599 launch price who are getting ahead of the game and preparing everyone for the next PS3.

I think and hope your right though. Most thought PS4 was going to drop at $499+ because of XB1, and when $399 was announced the Earth shook, so.

500 is my max for any console.

I'd go $500 if launch titles are right, id still prefer $400 tho as $500 with tax and one game is still around the $600 range

Also, people get phones on contract. I would not have paid a grand for my phone, if it wasn't 99 euro on my phone and internet contract I would not have it. If I had not had need of the contract, I'd do with my 20 euro secondary phone modeled after the Nokia 3210 and my thumbs and eyes would be thankful for it. No normal bloke or lass is spending anywhere near 1k on a phone and likely the majority of people manage a contract for a free phone and take the hit for a slightly more outdated or mid tier handset.

Never had a phone on a contract... Buy mine outright, even if they are $1,400 AUD. - Works out cheaper in the long run.

But I would certainly be the exception.

Price of the console doesn't bother me provided it has the hardware to back it's price.

I think it will be $500.
