So with the rumors getting confirmation, if the navi architecture was made with sony for the ps5, then what does that mean for MS and scarlet? Chips will be cheaper for sony. Rumors are also scattered that MS will not allow sony to take the performance crown again. Does this mean that MS will have more power for higher price lets say ps5 $400 xbox scarlet $600? Or will Ms eat the cost. But the thing with that is that if sony is probably already eating some cost at launch, MS will have to eat a huge cost per xbox.

This guy breaks it down quite nicely. Could not find official Vid with mark Cerny.

What you guys think.

UPDATE:

New round off rumors. More sources say anaconda to be more powerfull.

UPDATE AFTER COMPUTEX:

From gamermeld. nice summary

So they killed it with their CPU's. Sadly not what this was about.

Now navi, as said before was not the focus. But leaks seem correct so far. the 5700 was shown claimed by them to be around 10% better than the rtx 2070. No prices where announce so this does not say anything. But its aimed at the mid level. The previous leaks claimed that it would be $500, the latest, the first leak said it was around $400. We found out no info on price, but we do have release confirmation off july. So that 7/7 is still the target.

So what to we have that was confirmed was that this is a new architecture, or an evolution of GCN. Also came with a 25% IPC gain.

My take:

Since some leaks are being confirmed then lets just assume that 1.8GHz gpu speed still holds. Then Assuming that the ps4 pros 36 compute units stay the same. we are looking at 2.5x the performance with the higher clocks and IPC gains. Thats over 10 TFlops theoretical performance with the same 36 compute units. If we add that other expected 40 CU, then that gets it very close to 12TF previous y speculated.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

I think MS will use it,but it will for sure be customize. We don't know what agreement is between SONY and AMD. I think is not about royality, more about some design choices that are gonna be custom and exclussive for PS5. Sony won't tell you right now, its too early, but for sure they didn't co-developed and co-found the NAVI for free.

Navi was a thing before even PS4, why people keep spouting BS I do not know. All Cerny does, as anyone would do in any comparable position was work with AMD to fit their needs.

Im sure all they did was a few key features that they wanted, but probably set it apart enough.

Sure most likely. Im sure the version that sprouted from the sony colab is more suitable for console gaming maybe some extra feature that is beneficial for gaming only or something pc uses for other things that is unnecessary for gaming that was left out making it cheaper. Cant say that I know. But from the sound off things they have been at it for a while and yet no word or even rumors from MS if they had any special work done.

This. People have taken "co-develop navi" out of context.

They have co develeped their own custom chip based on Navi.

As for power... I really expected Ms to have it in the bag based on how development of X was handled. Now I'm not so sure!

There is no confirmation that Navi was build based joint project between Sony and AMD . So for now we will just wait and see. What i've heard was Navi build based on "Next Gen gaming " in mind, it means it will perhaps focusing solely on gaming rather then compute (server, etc) and also Navi will also coming to PC market. Probably there is special costume Navi variant that indeed made for PS5, but Microsoft will probably also using Navi that is made costume for their next Xbox.

I would say some changes were made to base chip on the colaboration and perhaps those modifications are exclusive to Sony. Possibly MS will have other modifications exclusive to them. But in the end performance will be near.

@Ironmanxd
What development of x1 your talking about? They where a year late and $100 more. That at launch is garbage.

I wouldn't doubt it came from someone at AMD originally, but if it's someone working on the PS5 semi custom version, they wouldn't and shouldn't know if XB is using it as well. That would explain why they think it's being worked on for PS specifically. The AMD teams would need to be separate so that MS and PS wouldn't have to worry about custom info getting leaked directly to the other group.

AMD would also know when PS and MS plan to launch their next gen hardware, since they are working on it, so if PS and MS want certain general things, it would only make sense to incorporate them into the Navi design as much as reasonably possible. If it was just a random AMD employee, since PS is the market leader by far, that may be why they didn't mention MS.

There are also rumored to be 2 versions of Navi. The low to mid-high end cards are supposed to be Navi 10, which should be launching mid to holidays this year, and the mid-high to high end Navi 20 version launching sometime in 2020, an entire year later possibly. Navi 10 may be designed more towards what PS wants and Navi 20 towards what MS wants. Both being very similar, but having their own required differences.

If I had to guess, just like how PS4 is still vastly outselling XB1 at a much higher price point, PS5 will be a little bit weaker than XB Anaconda but will be the same price. Based on the specs we've learned about so far, unless the RAM and GPU performance is held back more than some would hope, I'd imagine both next gen consoles are going to land at $499. I wouldn't be surprised if PS5 drops the price $100 after the first year though, while Anaconda remains at $499, especially if Lockhart exists at say $299.
