GameStop Will Let You Return New Games For Store Credit Within 48 Hours

According to a leaked document from a reputable source on Twitter, GameStop is launching a "Guaranteed to Love It" program where consumers can return a purchased game within 48 hours of the game's launch and receive a full refund in the form of store credit (not including tax). The program is limited to $60 standard-edition new releases, and any paid PowerUp Rewards membership bonuses will not apply. The game can be opened and played; it just has to be in good condition, and you must still have the receipt.

The "Guaranteed to Love It" program will kick off with Days Gone, the upcoming open-world, survival-horror game from Bend Studio. Days Gone is scheduled to release exclusively for PS4 on April 26, so shoppers will get their first chance to test GameStop's new return policy as early as next week. If you decide you don't like the game, you'll have until April 28 to return it and receive $59.99 in store credit.

So... 49 hours to become the new minimum time it takes to complete a game?

Uhg I dread the idea of speed runners trying to abuse this feature and rob developers of their hard work. Like going to the movies I personally don't think video games should be refundable because they are an IP that cannot be rebottled once it has been "consumed".

I will say that it helps that it is only 2 days from LAUNCH, not when they pick it up. It means they have to pick it up ASAP from a Gamestop store on Launch day to even participate. Could do wonders for getting those sales in early.

Hunting Season is done...

It's time to become a speed run gamers loll

I feel like it's very telling the first possible use of the return policy is Days Gone

I feel for the employees and I don't want anyone to fail but I don't think I'll ever set foot in a GameStop again. It just isn't a pleasant experience. Last time I went was to grab a copy of Samus Returns for the 3DS.

You know, that hard encrusted substance comprised but not limited to dirt, grime, food substances and DNA from the previous owner on the game cases and discs.  Just run your fingers over the outside of an in-store used game cover.  When you're through, dip your fingers in a vat of acid to wash it off.

wait... so you can get the full value of the game back if you bring it back in 48 hours? so.... could you buy the game at 5pm monday, return on weds at 4pm, bring in the game, return it... buy it again. come back friday at 3pm... wash rinse repeat? Handy way to rent out games for free indefinitely.
