Cartoon ares for kids but can have adult content.  You present one movie and based a whole industry off of it does that mean the majority of the movies are adult.  Any media not matter how centered it is on children can have an adult adaptation.  When the 30% of super hero movies are like Deadpool then you can change the goal post.

Either way, not sure why we are arguing this point.  I care very little how people judge superhero movies.  I watch movies to be entertained so whether its made for kids, adults or your average nut case it really doesn't matter to me if I believe it will be enjoyable.

Cartoons are not specifically for kids.  With flawed logic like that, there is really no talking to you.  Fun fact, cartoons as a medium started as skits designed for adults (not necessarily with adult content, but gears towards adults).  Only over the time did networks dedicate to bringing kid friendly content.

But even then, cartoons in general are still not just for kids.  Do you really think that Beavis and Butthead or South Park are designed for kids  but have adult content?

Noticed I said cartoons and not animation as their are many different types of animation but cartoons as they were generally designed for quite a bit of time themselves were made and created for kids.  Even so, we have cartoons like animaniacs that is made for kids but has adult level humor and content at the same time.

We can go down the semantics line of thought a lot but at the end of the day where exactly are we going.  Are we just arguing about semantics here or are we just arguing period for what purpose.  For every one example you set, I can give you hundreds that show different.  What exactly are we arguing about.   Since I already addressed my opinion on the subject, exactly what are you disagreeing on.

Even on the superhero front, how many superhero movies are their with a R rating or even anything above PG13.  For the one deadpool, how many superhero movies are made so that only adults can attend.

Grow up.

I just figure its the same as people that say I'm not going to watch Game of Thrones because of the dragons and nerd stuff, or my wife that tells me video games are for kids. Once a movie, game, show,, or any type of art has an opinion/bias its hard to get through to that person.

Omg yes i did lend my dvds of Game of thrones to a colleague and he stopped watching because it got unrealistic in the second season like wth?

That same dude does watch Marvel movies so yeah...

They are not for kids! More for adults with OCD, I'd say!

I would agree with them, but say that's not a problem!

The problem is not that they're made for kids, it's that they're also made for idiots. I can't watch any of them without feeling like I have already seen this done dozens of times before, and better. Whenever friends or co-workers try to drag me along to the next big commercially pumped up show, the most common advice I am given to enjoy the film is "Just turn off your brain!"

What? Turn off my brain? Is that supposed to allow us to ignore the fact we have already seen this same old formulaic tripe repackaged for about 25 years? Logan and Deadpool (to a lesser extent) have been about the only ones I have found to be entertaining or enjoyable in the last decade.

Something happens, and then some villain that you're supposed to think is a big deal is found to be behind it, the heroes work against it, and they are successful but THEN catastrophe strikes! They almost lose, but bring it back in the last moment to save the day, and sometimes something tragic happens that you are meant to be sad over (or you can laugh because of how contrived it is and the cow-brained people actually in to it will give you their disgusted looks, that make you laugh even harder): that's like 98% of them in a nutshell. What's worse are the idiots who actually criticize the super hero films that have the audacity to do something more original and deviate from this formula.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I literally don't know, cause superhero movies ARE for bloody kids.
Still, I enjoy Spider-man movies and cartoons. See, what I did there? I'm not creating arguments to defend smth just because I like it. I admit it's silly, like it anyways and don't talk about it around serious people.

The marvel movies are marketed both towards kids and adults but people should just enjoy what they want and why should it be silly to enjoy good products?

The same thing people say to me for playing Nintendo games. I enjoy them deal with it, or don't I really don't give a fuck either way.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

For kids? I say "For kids? They're for no one!".

More seriously though, to each their own. I couldn't care much less what people are watching. I've never been a fan of superhero films myself but whatever.

It's shorthand.   It's a quick way to say "Super hero movies don't develop plots and characters that are very intricate."

"For Kids" is more of a way for someone to point out that "even a child can get a grasp of all the concepts being portrayed in this subject matter."

Typically, these people are 100% correct.

Superhero films especially, are meant to fit to a low thought, high energy, low trauma, high morality play.

There isn't a superhero movie made, ever, that has the same emotional impact as Shindlers List.  There isn't a superhero movie ever made that has the complexity of plot as Memento.  No super hero movie will ever let the hero be as immoral as Clockwork Orange's protagonist (hell, even most badguys are little more than terrorists with no real ideals)

If you pray to the altar that is superhero films and claim they are the greatest films of all time, you need to read more, and watch less.

If you just love a fun story and some great action, then fine.  Have a favourite fun film - but don't try to convince others its "great film art".
