Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Hellblade on Switch releasing next week, 11th April

Well that came outta nowhere; I was thinking it'd be in May or June since we hadn't heard anything until now. Can't say I'm complaining though!

That was quick as fudge.

I played the shit out this game on PS4. It's really fabulous. If you're a Switch-only gamer, I definitely recommend it.

Just a comment. Isn't this interesting that this is coming to a Nintendo platform after Microsoft bought the developer?

It just goes to show that Nintendo and Microsoft are friendly right now. I knew since the days of the Wii60 that this was a match made in heaven. There is a possibility that Microsoft could bring its service maestry to a Nintendo platform. That would be wonderful for all sides, particularly the gamers..

looked like a great port in the video we got a few days ago, interested in what DF has to say about it

I mean the game was first brought on PS4 and PC and the game is their own IP (I don't think it is owned by Microsoft) so I think they made the decision to bring it on Switch by thei own will, not Microsoft.

Yeah that's probably the case.

I've heard somewhere that this Switch version was in the works before Microsofts aquisition. Still, it's pretty interesting. Microsoft also published Minecraft on 3DS(or was it Wii U? Don't remember)

I think MS is shifting their focus on gaming from hardware, into software and services.

I really wanna get this day 1 but 18 GB is a lot of space for a digital story driven game.

I think I’ll be waiting to see if a physical version comes out.

Apparently the Switch port was in development before MS bought Ninja Theory, and MS decided to let them keep going with it.

18GB does raise the question of why they didn't just release it on a 16GB cart with a small 2GB download, or just do a little more compression to fit the whole thing on the cart. There will most likely be a physical release further down the line, either from the publishers themselves or from the likes of Limited Run Games, but it could take a while.

I think that a game like this is more likely than not to see some kind of physical release on Switch.

I won't buy this month because I have enough already, but I might get it next month (given May is currently quiet, release wise).

I'll probably end up getting it a day or two late as (A) gotta wait for first impressions from those who've played it to make sure it's a decent port, and (B) with Australian internet it'll take almost a whole bloody day to download 18GB haha
