Outside looking in, it seems biden has a big advantage over trump, even bigger than hillary had over trump. considering that I read smewhere that probably there wont be any debate, where biden would probably be crushed or just sleep, what is the consensus at the moment in us? It seems to me trump has no chance this time but you never know...

AAAAHAHAH! You're kidding right? You think Trump has literally ever won a debate in his life? The autofill on my android phone spits out more coherent sentences than Trump. Trump's most defining feature is his complete disconnect from reality and complete disregard for literally any and all facts. How in the world could anyone with two neurons to rub together not see how woefully inept Trump is? How could anyone think petulant, childish behaviour wins debates?

We really are living in Idiocracy, aren't we?

I will wait for someone else to answer.

I'm not sure where you heard that there wouldn't be any debates. There are currently three scheduled, the first taking place in September: https://www.townandcountrymag.com/society/politics/a32082680/presidential-debates-joe-biden-donald-trump-schedule/

As for the performance of the candidates, I don't know if we'll be able to properly gauge Biden's performance because looking at 2016 debates, it doesn't seem like Trump participates in any kind of debate and just kind of runs at the mouth without much regard to the topic at hand. I don't see Trump changing his tactic for 2020, so even though the event will be called a debate I doubt we'll be getting one.

Ah yes, logic and rationale! The weaknesses of any conservative!

While I agree wholeheartedly with everything here, I have to ask: When was the last time you actually saw ANY political debate, regardless of Trump's inclusion? Like 90% of it is just baseless insults, nonsensical garbage, bullshit talking points, and shit-slinging. While Trump is by far the worst, he is by no means the only one to completely miss the point of debate in politics.

There's always a certain degree of partisanship during political debates because you're looking at two people who have opposing views. The 2008 debates are a far cry from the state of things during the 2016 debates though. There were disagreements but overall a much more civil and substantive discussion about how their views and policy positions differed:

They didnt get away with murder. The police officer has been fired.

I get that you hate Trump, but he has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Murder implies a criminal act.  Getting fired is not the penalty for murder in any jurisdiction.  So yes, they have still gotten away with it.

Its not murder. It may be incompetence. Thousands of people die every year in the hospitals because of human errors. Way more than human errors by the police. Dont see anyone protesting for doctors to be defunded and prosecuted.

Its easy for us to sit in our comfortable chairs and point fingers, but police officers are out there risking their lives each day so we can have that freedom. They make mistakes, but its very rare.

Gotta agree on it, my take on trump in a debate is that he is basically a bully while biden is basically senile at this point. Imagine biden saying something very stupid or being lost on the debate, trump would basically crush him.

And in the end the majority of people is stupid and dont realise that trump is all about slogans ad nauseum and it works. He basically refuses to answer and just repeats his slogans. Vs a senile elder all I can see is he titally crushing him.

What about the pools, is bidens advantage at this point higher than what hillary had?

I'm just going to ignore the rest of this post and respond to this bit.

Yes, it is.

On July 6, 2016, Clinton had a 4.9 point lead over Trump in the RCP aggregate, however the results had a tendency to swing fairly wildly. Both in Mid-May and Late-July Trump had an advantage in the polls.

Today, Biden has an 8.7 point lead over Trump in the RCP aggregate, and the results have been remarkably consistent. I don't believe that there has been a point where his lead has been less than 4 points over Trump.

This makes me so, SO sad. seeing those two discuss things in a relatively calm, collected manner is....wow what the fuck happened to America? Like, I know it's not cool to just lump people together or be hateful towards groups, but the fact that republicans support Trump in spite of his immature behaviour and unqualified nature when contrasted against how much they HATE Obama despite him clearly being educated and passionate and...you know, in touch with reality...it infuriates me. It angers me to no end that there are people out there who are so clearly guided by party lines as opposed to logic and reason that they'll support Trump and hate Obama when Obama is/was clearly the more qualified individual.

Honestly? the fact that Hilary didn't win the election despite her being similarly far more qualified than Trump is just baffling. She was weird and awkward, but I'd take 'old person trying and failing to be hip/cool' over 'narcissist nihilist who doesn't seem to give a shit about anyone but himself and is clearly just doing it for the media exposure' any day. We have a shady politician vs a reality TV personality. I'd rather take the politician to do my politics over that, any day.
