Forums - Sony Discussion - Ys IX (PS4) first gameplay, new details

Nice, such an underrated series.

Looks empty, dull, unfinished, and, to put it mildly, like a PSVita game.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I mean I love Ys, been playing since the PC Engine games but...man this does not look good so far. I hope this is like alpha footage or something. It looks like an early PS3 tech demo if not worse. The gameplay details are interesting though, how it is executed has yet to be seen but it sounds good on paper.

Ys is one of those series that I've been meaning to try for many years and yet I've never played one. I keep asking myself if I should go back and start with the first one or just start with Ys 8.

Memories of Celceta is coming to PS4 as well. Falcom makes great games, but damn do they suck at getting their games to the west. Games come late, come to unpopular systems, or get bad translations.

Yep for Japan.

Still need to release it to the west.

Alongside Ys I/II, Oath in Felghana and Seven.

So in other words, I might as well get the PC version. Well at least it's on that. I would have had to buy a Vita just to play a single game. Vita's library is one of the worst ever.

Cool, this is coming out on Playstation 2 as well! N I C E ! ! !

Just saw the gameplay video. The aesthetics of the city looks really bland. There's barely any people populating this huge city as well. I don't mind PS2 or PS3 graphics at all. In fact I think a lot of PS2 and PS3 games look better than modern games today, due to a better art direction. But this game just looks bland on top of having old graphics. At least the gameplay should be fun.

That city looks so empty and lifeless, I wouldn't feel compelled to explore it. Not a fan of the art direction neither. Movement/traversal looks good.

This is a huge leap forward for the series.
