Forums - Movies & TV - Shazam! has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes

The first reviews just came in for the latest movie in the DCEU and things are looking great. It has a better rating than any other DC movie and any other Marvel movie other than Black Panther (97%).

I wasn't expecting that from DC, but it looks like they're finally figuring stuff out and it's great that Marvel has some decent competition, at last. The future looks bright for the DCEU.

And all they had to do was to make movies where the characters resemble themselves and hire competent movie makers.

I'm gonna try to enter with tempered expectations but as a lifelong DC fan, I'M HYPED!!

Movie looks interesting. Maybe I'll try to see it in theaters... Dunno...

Why don't we use the MC score ? Rotten Tomato gives the pass to any reviews over 60/100.

I used the RT score because it was easier to compare to other superhero movies, since they have specific pages for every franchise. It has a 79 on MC, better than any other DCEU movie. I found this list with all the Marvel movies. Shazam has a better rating than any MCU movie other than the og Iron Man (tied with 79) and Black Panther (88).

No offense, Shazam must be dope, but RT press critics are a joke. Giving 97% to Black Panther, 91% to The Last Jedi and all. These numbers are higher than auteur films. So RT's credibility is 0%.

Instead check people opinion like on IMDB.com. I agree with 99% of IMDB's ratings.

Its amazing what happens when they use proper lighting, likable characters, dont include an under-developer ensemble cast, and just try to have fun with a character instead of making they super serious.

I'm very much looking forward to this movie. Critics don't influence me one way or the other. I very rarely find myself agreeing with them anyways.

Snyder is a competent film maker, but only when the source material genuinely fits his particular dark and gritty style. It worked great for films like Watchmen and 300, and could’ve been good for a solo Batman film, but not for Superman. WB at one point seemed pretty set on having Snyder do 75% of the DCEU films, which was likely their biggest mistake. Dark and gritty is cool, but not for every single film. Hopefully they’ve learned after Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam that they can have a solid universe of films, that see critical acclaim and do good at the box office, that weren’t done by the same guy. I hope the DCEU continues, even if they have to forget certain films they’ve already done.

Can't wait for the real Captain Marvel film.

Hmm, pie.
