Andrew Yang, applying as democratic candidate for president 2020, has secured donations from more than 65,000 unique donors, thus fulfilling the rules of the DNC for reaching the first debate stage.

His counter is at this moment at 65,899: https://www.yang2020.com/

I am happy to see him enter the debates, as he has a unique and interesting talking point about the future of work, automatization and universal basic income of 1000$ each month.

What do you think?

The guy that wants to introduce the Ali Act to MMA and shit-talks Dana White. Good for him. Given how jaded I am politically I may drag myself out to vote for that alone. IF I were American AND not in prison for something. Let's say weed.

I had to google Ali Act and Dana White. I didn't knew these fighters were exploited as much by the managers.

I'm the jackass who voted "Who is this again?"

As far as US news goes, the only American source I get it from is The Majority Report (mostly because I'm a fan of Bob's Burgers, and their political views are by far the closest to mine of all the US-based leftist shows). I don't think they've even mentioned him. They definitely have a bias toward the East Coast candidates.

In short, I have no fucking clue who this guy is =)

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

He's an entrepreneur who founded the non-profit Venture for America to help graduating students trying to become entrepreneur. His main platform is Universal Basic Income. He wants to give every American citizen over 18 $1,000 a month no questions asked. The caveat to this is if you already welfare programs you have to opt-out of your current programs or receive less of the $1,000.

It's pretty bad in MMA in general. Fighters get roughly 10% of overall revenue in the UFC, the world's biggest promotion, which is a stark contrast to most other sports. Of course, it's not a team sport which creates a very different dynamic, AND there's no union, due in part to said dynamic. The Ali Act has done a great job of ensuring mid-tier/top of the food chain boxers are getting what's owed to them. I hope it comes to MMA, but it's a sordid affair. There's a lot working against MMA athletes. The most important step would be to unionize, however that's been attempted twice very recently, and has fizzled. Project Spearhead is still going, but REALLY needs some of the big stars to back it to gain more traction. I like that Yang is talking about it. It's not the most pressing concern in the world, but the inequity is real, and quite pronounced.

How about no.
What do you think will happen to everyone's rent for example if all of a sudden the rentor's know that all of their rentee's have a guaranteed $1,000.00 more per month in their pocket.

My rent went up like $30 each year for the last couple. If this guy got elected and this was enacted, I would bet my rent would go up by hundreds.

Not interested in him.

We should double down on automation since it makes humanity more productive in the long-term but I don't agree at all with Yang's proposal to give a UBI of $1000 ...

Right now the US's total M1 money supply is roughly $3.7T but by seizing as much as $4.2T from big corporations in potential savings over the year will cause the currency to devalue by more than twice it's original value. This simply means that at the end of this year the dollar would be worth less than half it's original value at the beginning of this year ...

You see with corporations shoring all their savings into a tax haven they can artificially keep the value of the currency high so this ironically becomes a necessary evil to combat inflation. It is not just solely printing more currency that causes inflation but it is also increasing the money velocity that causes inflation as well. One can visualize that by parting money so easily thus artificially increasing everyone's incomes, unintentionally money loses it's value because people value it less making it undesirable to keep ...

It is society's poor understanding of money at large which causes these schemes of wealth redistribution to be so popular. Money is not a tool of productivity and it will never be but rather it is intended as a tool of trust between two traders. For that, I am slightly disappointed in Yang because he seemed like the technical type who would jive with me unless he realizes that it's all just a part of elaborate his campaigning strategy to gain popularity so hopefully he find a hidden way to to confirm this or he can show some other upsides about him ...

Sounds like he has some pretty terrible policies. Hopefully he doesn’t make it to any more debates. Let’s keep him as far away from any serious role in politics as possible...
