I'm making this thread to talk about the Yakuza games that just now started being more liked on the West.

I had played the original in PS2 long ago and loved it, but didn't found the second game launch at the time... Then I got Yakuza 3 late in the life of PS3 and got bored during some part of the daycare on the orphanage.

But during December PSN+ free game of Yakuza Kiwami (I didn't know they were remakes at the time and lost the chance of buying it on a trip), I was still a little burned by the third entry. Plus was a little suspecious of the Zombie game (Yakuza 4 and 5 also didn't show up over here).

And I have to say that playing Kiwami throw me back to that first game and mindset, and I totally love the game again to the point of just needing the very expensive weapon and accessories to plat the game (well also need a new playthrough on Legendary, do Climax Battles, but those will be pleasant). The mini-games are fun, the story is grandious while also being very humane. The protagonist is charismatic, very noble and the people he meets are relatable.

Perhaps after having my child the Yakuza 1 (or Kiwami) got even more touching on the protection and devotion he gives the little Haruka and the search for not only her mother but the aunt (Kazuma's darling).

After buying it I rushed to buy Yakuza 6 (Platined, but a lot easier to plat though), there were fewer games, but some funny moments (unfortunately the chat room even being good and a lot different than the cabarets... getting you a soft strip-tease.. but the cabaret having more girls and being easier/faster than Kiwami didn't earn you the ending movie of the girls soft porn). The Yakuza Clan is very good fun as well. Could be sold standalone for 5-10 bucks easily.

The story on 6 is a little more dark than Kiwami, but still on similar plot of loss and parenthood... Yakuza is all about relationship. And the end of Kazuma carreer (promissed to be last game) is such a well made moment with a lot of unexpected events that got me thrilled.

As soons as I finished I ordered Zero, and soon will be able to give my impressions. So far seems a little slower and not expecting as much plot twists, but I heard good of it and the management of cabarets... plus a lot of the minigames 6 missed returned.

No love for it then guys? Sad....

I've only played Yakuza Zero so far, but I absolutely love the game, and I'm very much looking forward to getting into the rest of the series in the near future. One of my favourite open world games I've played. I love the way the world in the game is designed, being on the smallish side as far as open worlds go, but still feeling big because of how much interesting stuff there is to do.

I played Yakuza 4 on the PS3 and it was shit.. not, it was ok.

I played Zero and loved it.. raved about to my friends. Jumped immediately into Kiwami...and got burned out. Quit midway. I will eventually jump back into it... just not right now. Unfortunately It just felt too much of the same and kinda got tired mid way thru it.

I actually just got Yakuza 0 yesterday, first game I've played in the series.

I know it have the open world design, but it doesn't feel open world. It feels cozy. As much as I hate to traverse, since the city is small and there is thing to do everywhere I didn't got the bad feeling I get from regular open world. RDR2 for example I also didn't had issue because I done only main and side quests, not done a lot of smaller stuff. And on HZD, SM and GoW I absolutely didn't feel it as open world, they were just a world with a story and some side content that I didn't had to be running all around the map. They were made tight.

Good info on it, they already remastered 3 and 4 (besides Kiwami 1 and 2), remaster of 5 will launch soon in Japan. So in about 1-2 years we will have all numbered Yakuza available on PS4, and there is even the possibility of the spin-offs (have no idea if they are good or suck though).

Yes the gameplay is similar and if you get lost on mini-games you can burn. But the story is so unique that I never got tired.

Sometimes you need to give though love to your child, and that smack to the face wasn't out of malice, although I was surprised when it happened =p.

Majima was the crazyest and funniest part of Kiwami, I have encountered all of it and it was always epic and funny. I missed him on 6. So I'm sure I'll love some Majima on 0.

Small open world make it more enjoyable for me.

I've been showing my love since Day 1. Bought every game at launch, platinumed every PS3 game I've played (still havent played the PS4 games but bought them already and will platinum them)....this also included the Yakuza Dead Souls game too lol.

One of the best franchise game i've played so far and I can't wait to find the time to play the PS4 games.
