Here s my take about Crackdown 1 that seems to be preserved in 3. Crackdown 1 was a nice simple game. You are dropped into a world where you can pretty much do whatever you want. Your job was to clean up the city and you can take out each boss in whatever order you want. No side quest, talking to NPCs, daily quest, loot boxes and all that other trappings current games do now. All those trappings are fine but after you played enough games that does it you get tired of that formula. You have a big world which you can level up your character and your ride. You have the large vertical platform to play around in where you produce your own fun. From the reviews I have read, Sumo pretty much kept that formula and didn't mess with it. As a 60 dollar game, this probably would not sell as much since people now expect all those other trappings but as a gamepass exclusive, it probably will be a game people enjoy more than reviews give it credit for.

I just read the DF analysis. I was so close to getting a XBox One S right before the X was announced, I'm glad I didn't. Every review now the original box comes off as the black sheep. 1536x1080, frame rate drops, screen tearing, no headlight shadows, detail paired back. And if you play co-op with someone on an X, their detail will be paired back as well to stay synched. Mid gen upgrades... The X is still overpriced here anyway.(CAD 600 bare bones)

At least they liked the HDR implementation!

Considering the vast majority of Xbox’s sold to date are not the X the performance of the base model should be the focus of reviews.

Unfortunate, but expected. Looked bad, early previews said it was underwhelming, and Microsoft can't catch a break.

The last gasp for the Xbox One and it's a whimper. Does the console have ANYTHING on the horizon aside from Ori and the Will of the Wisps (which even I can likely run on my PC)?

There’s still Gears and possibly halo infinite (if it’s cross gen). And a few smaller titles like battletoads and maybe ninja Theory next game. But this gen is almost a wrap

Yeah almost there. How would you rate this gen compared to last?

Scores don't matter too much. I see that many reviews point at the mindless fun factor and that's all what's really important in the end.

Gameplay > Graphics

Substance > Style

Art Direction > Realism

Pretty bad so far. Will try it on gamepass tho.

Been playing for a few hours, highly enjoying it. I am smirking reading some of these reviews where they whine about how its just old Crackdown with better graphics and new abilities and features... I mean that's literally all I wanted. Can't wait to unlock some of the crazier shit and really wreak havoc. Not surprised by the low scores, even State of Decay 2 scored low and it was a great $30 title. My most played game of all time has a 58 on Metacritic, so yeah...

Good to hear you are enjoying it.

Not surprising. This series was never especially great.

Man it must suck to be a Xbox fan nowadays. Sony keeps nailing it with their exclusives, while MS keeps producing these piles of steaming poo.

In all honesty, given MS' new strategy, I dont think scores matter as much for thm anymore. Most of their tittles r given for "free" in gamepass day one, so it doesnt make a lot of business sense to sink a ton of money into them. Provided the game is "good enough", what's more important is the perceived value, bcz they have yet another xclusive coming to gamepass day one. Ofcourse, they will still need a big hit every now n thn, but it is not as important IMO.

That would be a pretty bleak outlook if true. However, I don't think they would have purchased six new studios (some of which were quite noteworthy) if they were content with the quality of their first party output.

Wow lower than expected. I am still debating if it is worth my time through gamepass.
