One of the few remakes that would've made sense on the 3DS, and of course it's for Switch. I'm not saying it shouldn't be on Switch. But Luigi's Mansion and Kirby's Epic Yarn don't belong on 3DS.

And this game kind of already got a remake with DX. But maybe that's more just an update or expansion.

3DS is dead, Nintendo should release even Luigi's Mansion and Kirby's Epic Yarn on Switch, they would have better sales.

Or Ocarina of Time, for that matter. Talon and Ingo are pretty much Mario and Luigi in appearance but not name.

So, how much is this going to sell? Any guesses?

I'm gonna say right off the bat that this sells better than A Link Between Worlds, better than the original Link's Awakening on Game Boy, and could even give Phantom Hourglass a run for its money.

I'm wet.

Zelda ALBW on 3DS sold something around 3.5-4m, so minimum would be 3m+, even 5m+ is very possible.

My issue is that I would love to play Link's Awakening on Switch, but these graphics seem like an unnecessary upgrade to justify increasing the price point by 10X. Unless there is something added that makes it worth it, it's a hard no for me.

Hopefully they do something to improve the use of items. I remember the original getting quite tedious with all the item changes you had to do.

Signature goes here!

I'll get it and am excited to play it. I like the loo of it, but I can't deny I was not hoping during the opening cinematic that they were using the Breath of the Wild engine with that artsyle. Could you guys imagine. That would have broken the internet.

They've used the same style for the logo ...

Yea, I noticed that the 2019 was a breath of the wild text, but no way is the game using breath of the wild engine.

Well maybe it is. Didn't they recreate the entire breath of the wild in 2d to test all kinds of physics and stuff. Maybe they used that same engine for this game.

Still haven't made up my mind on this one.

I usually don't buy remastered old games on principle as there has been way, way too much rehashing of old content this generation and I don't want to support this horrid practice, but on the other hand, there comes a point where a game is old and primitive enough that I feel like a remake is justifiable, especially one like this that's over a quarter of a century old and made for an 8-bit portable.

Funnily enough I actually don't mind the art direction (which is unusual as I am very picky about art styles) and since I never played it before, I may actually pick it up.

Going to the primitive-ness of the original, this remake will presumably benefit greatly from having more than two buttons, as that technical limitation was the original's achilles heel.

We know they've done at least a bit about that, since Link is shown with sword, shield, and at least one item (feather etc.) in a few scenes. But agreed.

I kind of wish it would have been a new game entirely, but I am still super excited for this. 2D Zelda has a special place in my heart. A Link to the Past is still, after all these years, my favourite Zelda. The art style almost reminds me of a non-pixellated version of 3D Dot Game Heroes.

Oh, and for those who missed the chance to play the original, Link's Awakening DX is available on the 3DS eshop.
